One of the college courses I took was 1914-45 U.S. History, where I had the pleasure of having this gangly-looking Asian kid as a classmate. He would show up well before class began, playing his Nintendo 3DS at max volume without headphones as if to broadcast to everyone his vested interest in Mario Kart. He was also the only student who actually paid attention to anything the teacher said, which meant that he would interject with history trivia barely tangential to the topic at hand and derail the lecture for a good minute or so. As time went on, everyone just got used to him.
Then one day, when the professor broached the subject of WWI, something must have flicked a second switch in his head; the kid interrupted him in that nasally voice of his and started to babble about the negative impact of colonialism and how it was ultimately responsible for the U.S.'s involvement in the war. Even the teacher, a milquetoast man who could have easily been tipped over by a stiff breeze, was both visually and audibly losing patience with this spergout. He keeps trying to concede to the kid and just get back to the lecture, but the autist just pressed on and on and wasted ten whole minutes of everyone's time.
There was a certain camaraderie shared by everyone that day, as we all glanced at each other and wondered what the hell that entire exchange was.

I went to a graduation ceremony and there was the rule of nobody being allowed to applaud or cheer during the whole process. Now, there was this guy who was rather on the spectrum also in that graduating class. He was in one of my courses and I always wondered how he was able to keep up the grades because every memory I have of him was of him not following what was being asked of him to do in class or not doing his coursework altogether.
Nevertheless, he attended the ceremony and arrived in a messy white shirt and shorts. It wasn't until shortly before the ceremony started that he decided to put on his cap and gown.
He was the last person to get his diploma and everybody attending was happy that the whole thing was finally over (it took 2+ hours) and everyone in the crowd started to cheer. Though, that guy thought they were all cheering for him. He turns around and walks back to the center of the stage and starts bowing over and over to the audience.
By the end of it, the audience was cheering for him

Was in a university debate. Rule was the audience could ask points of order which could be (but didn't have to be) responded to. Don't answer/take POIs and you look unprepared. For some reason, this society brought in a lot of weird people.
Had one American Chinese guy who I mentioned before somewhere on this site want to ask a point of order. So he shouts point of order several times. The guy ignores him. So he stand up and raises his hand like he's in preschool, except he did it like a Nazi salute. He stood there until the guy finished his speech.
The speech was 5 mins long from the time he stood up.
Another one was a now friend of mine a few years ago. Guy is cursed to look like a 40 year old man at the age of 19 to 20. Obese, premature balding, looks like Friar Tuck because of his weight and hair. Debate is about climate change. Starts his speech slowly... "What is climate change people.... Climate change... *serious look on face*... Is a change in the climate".
Last one was some half American half Britbong. First time I see him is at a debate. He gets up, makes some Game of Thrones analogy about Brexit, forgets his way through it and says "I'm lost". Strangely enough there was one old woman who kept asking him POIs that were easy and challenging others. Like... Really old, 50+.
Turns out it was his mum. No, she wasn't studying there, he had brought her in to try to give him brownie points and make him look good. This nigga was 20 years old. He thought it was completely normal to have his mother come in to a student debate and advocate on his behalf.

I had to take a Microsoft Office class in high school. One of my classmates was this autistic kid that was still technically in the special ed class, but was “functioning” enough to integrate into certain classes.
Every single project he worked on was about California and meditation. Wouldn’t even sperg about those subjects; he’d just mention how much he loved California and how he would meditate if he was there. If the teacher challenged him to do a project about something else or follow the prompt he’d gasp and shake. One time he did have a meltdown and had to leave the class. Another time he “sang” the Looney Tunes theme in full for no real reason. Finally, his handler would come in the last five minutes of class and escort him to his next class because he’d have meltdowns if he was in the hall when the bell rang.

In high school I had a classmate that:
- Idolised Nazi Germany
- Claimed he didn't know whether the holocaust happened but 6 million wasn't enough. I know it sounds like a shitpost but dude was serious.
- Wanted to reinstall the king.
- Idolised the junta that forced the king to abandon his throne.
- Came to school dressed as if in mourning on the anniversary of the fall of the junta.
- Claimed to be descended from a French royal family. I believe he said the name was de maison but I don't thing such house actually exists.
- Claimed to be related to Greek revolutionary Theodoros Kolokotronis.
- One time he got angry and called us all peasants.

When I used to work in youth club and a child was told to come off the computer to let someone else have a turn, so he stripped naked and ran around the entire building screaming and crying with me chasing after them with their pants trying to cover up his pee pee for the sake of his own dignity

Back in high school there was a kid in one of my art classes who was the full-blown stereotype. Patchy beard, wore a fedora every day, never washed. I used to do calligraphy for fun, drawing band logos and the like, and he asked me to do one for his DA screen name, which I did and then went and looked up his handle. He was really into the Sonic fandom and had his own coldsteel the hedgehog tier OC. Last time I checked in on him he was a brony but this was years ago and I can't recall his handle anymore.
More recently there's been a guy who comes into my work every few days, lanklet, early-mid 20s, always rides a bike and wears sweatpants. Never makes eye contact or says more than a few words and he always gets the exact same thing (ice cream and soda). I assume he's a neet and got a big autist vibe from him.
The machine we use to process credit cards gives us their name when we run them so on a whim I looked him up and found he has a YouTube channel. He's obsessed with dinosaurs, to the point that he makes full stop-motion videos with action figures telling stories. He also has a series of poorly edited videos where he parrots JBP talking points.
Makes me wonder how many of these anonymous "commentators" on youtube are really just massive, barely functioning autists IRL despite their crafted personas.

I could go on forever about this person I know.
He's obsessed with people he considers "thugs" which may as well be any black person he ever laid eyes on. He thinks these "thugs" are taking over cities and believes the police should have tanks to control the problem. Tanks with sniper rifles.
One time claimed an elderly man in a power scooter commanded his tiny dog attack him.
Thinks people with mental illness should be allowed euthanasia.
Also one time during Independence Day, he said people who light fireworks deserve to be shot.

I say some care more than others, but most are pretty educated and understanding of the job. You don't need any qualifications bar basic maths and english to be an assistant so it's nothing special. Some have more extra experience than others do, like some have studied more into child development etc, but anything else is just on the job training and making the effort to educate/study on your own.
Personally i try to keep myself informed in whatever areas i can as im a firm believer of if you can stop a meltdown/behaviour before it gets too bad, it's a lot better than letting it blow up. Everything has warning signs, you just need to know your child and look out for them.
There are no extra wrangling helpers, its just on us to deal with everything.
