Nah, I think Phil's IQ is likely to be a straight 100. Baseline average intelligence.

I think Phil is likely to have been a fairly intelligent guy who was once capable of academic achievement. He was confirmed to be valedictorian at his high school. I think his reading, writing, spelling, grammar and vocabulary and arithmetic are above average

This is the man that thought BMW would phone him to remind him about an oil change.
This is the man that though a spoon was the best kitchen utensil to eat cup noodles.
This is the man that said "buyers market for cars".

Concluding that Phil was smart because he was surrounded by brain damaged knuckle heads who only cared about sports and not academia is like saying dolphins are smart when you compare them to the retards they are swimming with.

also the same man that has a $500 keurig to boil water for his .49c cup noodles

I think Phil is likely to have been a fairly intelligent guy who was once capable of academic achievement. He was confirmed to be valedictorian at his high school. I think his reading, writing, spelling, grammar and vocabulary and arithmetic are above average.

However, I think Phil is also incredibly lazy-minded. He is interested in the dumbest of entertainments (like wrestling), his sense of humour is based in the toilet, and he has no interest in pursuits that lead to achievement or personal development. His ideal lifestyle is sitting in comfort watching wrestling with his brain switched off. It's all he wants out of life. I believe this has caused his intelligence to atrophy.

Then there's the narcissistic personality disorder, which causes him to think he knows everything, so he remains stubbornly and wilfully ignorant about most subjects. In recent years he has isolated himself from all friends or real social interaction -- besides parents who coddle him and a wife with no personality -- and chooses to talk AT an audience of cult members for hours every day, meaning he's just mentally masturbating in his own brain-filth.

How would he actually score on an IQ test? It's hard to predict. He could pull the same trick he did at high school: switch on the intelligence and fluke a score of 115. Or he could fail as badly as he does in a videogame puzzle room, and without chat to help him, he scores 80.

You're forgetting a major component in all that: His admitted binge drinking and alcoholism for at minimum the last 10+ years. He's said before that he would hit the bottle hard after work in his 20s and when he went on a staycation with Panda for a few days he showed around three handles of gin that he brought with him. Considering his lifestyle, well-known gout and bizzare, late-night tweets, there's no doubt he hasn't changed his habits.

So imagine the brain damage he's accumulated pickling his brain with hard liquor.

putting that into perspective, that's $600+? on games

He made $500+ in tips alone yesterday (200 for star wars and 300 from pokemon), that on-top of patreon, ad-revenue from YT and Twitch (thosuands of dollars of double dip free money a month) and Twitch sub payments means he makes more than enough to offset some game costs up-front. Keep in mind he splits his tips goal up during the day and starts from $0 again on the "late stream" to fool people into thinking he has been given less than he actually has that day. Also video games and anything else he buys (including stupid outfits, electricity costs etc) for his self employed "business" are a work expense by tax law, so are tax deductions anyway. He effectively gets anything that's for his job for free (upto a certain limit obviously, $12k a year or so i think when married, which is why he got married in the first place...greater tax benefits).

Whether you think streaming is a dumb job or not is irrelevant to the tax office, it's still the persons lawful job and work expenses for games are classed the same as a carpenter buying tools for his business. Since there is a cap on deductions he still wants some "gifts" obviously though.

However buying as many games as possible (that he can play without getting swamped) makes good business sense since new games lure bigger tips and they are tax deductions anyway, he would be dumb not to buy a lot of big games.

He is making a lot of money doing what he does right now, way way more than he would ever get doing anything else ever. His problem is that he was working as a self employed youtuber at the start, making a lot of money and just didn't bother paying any taxes on any of it cause he was a dumbass. So he owed a lot of back taxes when they found out, once those are paid off he will fine. He won't tell anyone when that happens of course, why would he say when he has a good racket going on. For all we know he has already paid off his back taxes and other issues long ago and is just playing the gig now. There will never be a time when he says "My taxes and bills are all paid now, thanks everyone!", he would be insane to say that ever because he knows this works for him to get more money.

He will be 70 years old and still complaing about muh bills and new games costs if it still works for him.

the narrative did stray recently from "I have no money, all tips go straight to bills", to "we have money but we have no money to do random stuff", to "I need tips to buy games"

I think dave has too much pride to keep a begging narrative ongoing, however it will only reveal itself naturally with slips of the tongue

I wish to everliving fuck people would stop bringing detractor shit into his chat. That unfunny garbage and shit like Code Castiel stream sniping him is so obnoxious and just feeds in Phil's persecution complex and paranoia.

Honestly, KF is less of an influence than the gravitational pull of the restreamers, a case in point being yesterday's bidding wars between DSP and LSB supporters.

You're exaggerating the impact of those taxes like he did. It was less than $5K for multiple years of back taxes. If he'd just paid them he would have been fine. Instead he hired an attorney to fight it and probably paid a couple thousand bucks for the guy's trouble.

Lurker's first post here, so I apologize if this is something that has been discussed many times already, but it's something that I've always wondered.

Do you guys believe that Phil plants fake donations sometimes? As in, giving people money and asking them to tip him, to make it look like he's always successful on his "marathons".

I say that because I've noticed that his reaction to tips vary dramatically. I've seen him getting like 40$ tips and being completely nonchalant about it, and then on other times he gets like 30$ tips and is very happy with it. Which lead me to believe that some of the "large tips" he receives come from his own money, and since he's a bad actor he does not make it look like he is genuinely happy about getting them.

Or maybe I'm just thinking that Phil is too much of a scammer and exaggerating on his lack of decency. Just food for thought.

if would say that's possible but pretty unlikely. That would require effort n giving away money we all know he aint big on either and i'm positive someone would of told on him by now if he did do that.

Khet sometimes sends him tips/cheers. Aside from that there are big donations which people bring up before the stream and he knows he will receive them. Aside from that I highly doubt it. I bet there is some small fee and he is definitely too greedy to do it

Humans are pack animals, if you want people to do something kind of dumb you have to lead by example. Donating to a streamer is a dumb thing to do really (considering a lot of them make way more money than the tippers do and all you're paying for is "notice me senpai"), so you have to get past the "I don't want to be the first person to do it and look stupid" mentality. I would not be surprised at all if the anon tips off-stream are completely fake and some of the early ones are from his wife or a friend. You'll often see something like $1 top or $5 tip and then someone tips $100 and then someone else does it too.

I've seen it so many times, someone gets no tips for ages and then someone tips fairly big and a flurry of other tips all come in in a copy-cat manner in quick succession. I saw someone tip $50 to a streamer a few days ago, then someone else tipped $10 and said "make it rain" and like 10-20 more tips came in after that.

No way to really know for sure but you can guess and ultimately it comes down to if you think he would do it or not, I wouldn't put it past him at all.

Quick thoughts:
1. For some reason people believe he Phil is an idiot and he is definitely not. We like to laugh at his achievements but he would achieve anything in his life if he was that dumb and he is pretty eloquent. Almost all his problems wether they are work related or game related come from his inability to learn due to his delusional word view. He definitely has NPD.
2. He watches gameplay videos before he plays new releases now. It's definitely the guy he was talking about before. I think it's the main reason he wanted to kill that frog boss in SW because the guy he was watching didn't kill. It was his way to show Khet he is a better gamer.
3. He hates everything that "wastes his time". He hates his prestreams too which becomes apparent when he listens to them during his back in time streams.

Yes, 100%. I can't prove it however.

You can fake a pop up message.

Absolutely zero proof for this.
There were cheers about his free time and how wonderful it would be for him to end his stream earlier. He used his soy voice to answer and said something like "Ha, ha, yeah, but you know how it is. Job is job. I need to earn money even though I would really like to spend my time with Kat downstairs".
It was officially confirmed that Khet is in his stream too. Don't see why she would not send him a small cheer/tip

Noones second guessing that what he has are what I call vermin smarts which is a cocktail of desperation and wits like a rat along with the ability to gauge a certain demographic of people to exploit in this case his wheelchair audience. You wanna see a text book example of Phil from another Earth look at the deposition of Pastor Dave Taylor:

If you put DarkSydePhil in charge of the Sahara Desert, in 5 weeks he'll be telling everyone there's a shortage of sand.

Edit - Grammar.
