And the woman who actively killed her was given a 16 year sentence and let out after 7 years in 2008 and told she was to not go back into counseling or be near children.

Seriously, the judicial systems of the western world are a total joke when it comes to dealing with this kind of grotesquery.

WTF. Well. A quick perusal confirms my general suspicion that it's not the brightest sparks who go into social work. Duct tape around the mouth? What kind of tard doesn't know that's very likely going to result in death if they vomit or struggle to breath through their nose, and especially if you're already compressing their chest and they're also likely hysterical as any kid would be under such treatment?

Portions were played (I can't remember now if it had video) during courses I took as well. Sadly, its still mentioned in some of the more pseudoscience trauma text books as a "controversial treatment" even though it is "banned" much like conversion therapy.

Logan Marr's case is totally depressing. Most of the reason she was taken away from her mother in the first place is because her grandmother was a lying narcissist who didn't like that her daughter (Logan's mother) progressively cut off contact with her. Grandma had a history of making false CPS/domestic violence claims to get her way. CPS also engaged in all kinds of misconduct/neglect in order to get Logan away from her mother and into a permanent placement with one of their own agents.

Spoiler: background info on the case

Logan's mom Kristy was really young and lived with her mother, Kathy. Kathy called CPS on Kristy because she disagreed with how Kristy was raising Logan. Kathy told CPS Kristy had a violent temper and had grabbed and shaken the baby, which they found no evidence of and no problems with the way Logan was being raised. Kathy had also called them on her own boyfriend and said that he was molesting the baby after an argument and had previously coached a very young Kristy to say her own father had molested her to get full custody of her in a divorce. So she's got a history of false claims of child abuse and of using CPS to get her way in arguments.

CPS told Kristy in order to keep Logan she had to move out and cut off contact with her batshit mother and she did, moved out and whatnot. However after her boyfriend left her broke and pregnant, Kristy asked Kathy (who told Kristy she and the "molester" boyfriend were now broken up) to babysit Logan while she went to work. A neighbor saw the boyfriend come over and promptly called CPS. Logan was put into foster care for a while. Kristy managed to cut off contact with her mother and moved herself and her other daughter (who was born after Logan was taken) to a new home. I don't even think she let the mother know where she was living. She got Logan back and briefly moved very far away. The move didn't end up working out and because she had sunk everything into it the only thing she could think of to do was move back in with Kathy.

She got married to a guy who had a non-violent criminal history in yet another attempt to get away from the mother. What a surprise: another call came in to CPS that the new husband was abusive, this time saying he was violent to Kristy in front of the kids. Again, no proof but the kids were taken away and put in foster care. Again, Kristy complied with everything CPS told her to do - cut off contact with Kathy, got a divorce, took parenting classes, worked multiple jobs to save up money...

The new foster mom became convinced the allegations against Kristy were true, because Logan started acting out. Multiple child trauma experts said the problem was separation with her family and not understanding why she couldn't see her mother and that there was no abuse. Instead of doing what the trauma experts said and getting her therapy, she instead shoved Logan and her sister on another foster parent, this time a CPS agent who was not allowed to serve as a foster mother and already had a very young baby. Instead of like, "sorry I want to but I can't," this woman quit her job and took them.

The foster mother, since she had worked in CPS, thought she was seeing signs that 5-year-old Logan was abused because, wait for it – she was too protective/caring towards her baby sister and became attached to new people easily. That was her complaint. Based on that she got the mother's visitation cut way way back which made Logan start to get really anxious and act out more. When she would be able to see her mother she would be calm and happy then immediately after she was returned to the foster mother she would have "rages". Logan also told her mother (on video tape, in front of CPS agents) that the foster mother was hurting her, wrapping her tightly in blankets and squeezing her and other things the attachment therapy people advocate doing to kids. Rather than investigate these claims, CPS tried to open a pathway for the foster mom to adopt so they wouldn't see the mother again.

Logan apparently had a bad tantrum after a visit with her mother was cancelled. The foster mother claimed she put Logan in a high chair in the unfinished basement as a time out, that Logan knocked the chair over by thrashing around, hit her head, and died. However when they investigated, police found yards upon yards of duct tape covered in Logan's hair, skin, and saliva, and her cause of death was asphyxiation.

tl;dr: mom made mistakes but grandma was evil; CPS ignored their own agents' misconduct in the case and the mother's steadfast efforts to prove she could take care of her own children. As a result a child died an agonizing terrifying death alone in a basement duct taped to a high chair and choking on her own vomit.

Not sure how old this kid is meant to be, but I thought psychs won't diagnose bipolar even in teenagers? Or is it a case of go doctor-shopping until you find one unethical enough to slap a label on, and heavy-drug the kid at your behest? I dug a little deeper ans found out that this kid just started 10th grade. So he is a teenager. Old enough to know better. He was adopted from foster care. He is apparently super violent most of the time.

Candace, who has been portrayed by her mother and defence lawyers as a demonic child suffering from Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), starts to paint on a large board on the wall.

Ponder now comes into the room on the ground floor of Watkins's house in Evergreen, Colorado, which acts as her clinic and spends more than 10 minutes preparing Candace for her "rebirthing" therapy. Candace sits motionless, yawning because she has been up all night suffering from nightmares.

Sheriff's investigator Diane Obbema, head of a child abuse unit, explained to the jury that "rebirthing involves wrapping the child in a sheet, the ends held tightly over the child's head, and then tormenting the child into fighting her way out past adults who are forcing their weight on to surrounding cushions in imitation of the labour contractions of birth".

On the video, Candace can be seen crying out in fear and pain. She shrieks: "I can't do it! I can't do it!" she shrieks. "I can't do it! I can't do it! I can't breathe!" Ponder answers: "If you stay in there, you are going to die and your mother will die too!"

Candace continues to cry and struggle. She is told to push hard or "stay in there and die". The jury hears a scream and then more pleas including: "Please! I want some air. Please! I want to breathe. Please stop pushing on me."

And then, with the volume rising in a strangled crescendo: "Please help me ... I'm dying." Then Candace's voice fades. For at least the last 45 minutes of the tape, the main sounds from her cocoon are whimpering and panting for breath.

Ponder is seen placing a pillow firmly over Candace's head. She says: "She'll fight if she needs air. Stop trying to control things. You can be a different girl if you want to be." There is no response.

The prosecution’s most damning evidence was a 70-minute videotape of the session. On the tape, the therapists can be heard mocking Candace’s cries for help, calling her names and discussing other matters while the child begged for air.

Candace repeatedly told the therapists that she couldn’t breathe. She told them she had vomited and defecated. One therapist responded, “Scream for your life.”

The girl repeatedly said she thought she was going to die, and one of the women told the girl she would have to “die” to be reborn.

“You mean like you want me to die for real?” she asked.

Ponder, who was sitting on top of the child, replied, “Uh-huh.”

“Die right now and go to heaven?” Candace asked.

“Go ahead and die right now,” Ponder said.

The last part suggests total callousness and perhaps a sense of glee that they were successfully physically and mentally terrorizing a young child into shitting herself and vomiting.

Plenty of dumb, unstable and weird people seem drawn like moths to flames to therapy as a profession though, nothing new there. Seems anyone can call themselves one. You would have to be mighty weird and dumb to think terrorizing a child via the metaphor of birth could ever help complex psychological or developmental issues. That's a total bottom-feeder concept, about on a par with believing mental illness is caused by an infestation of demons and you need to beat them out of the patient, to death if necessary.

Sarah Jones, mother of 14 year old brain dead Bobby Reyes, won in court today. The children’s hospital will have to keep her deceased son functioning on a ventilator until she finds a long term facility that will accept him.

The mother and supporters have a Facebook page and blog where they ask supporters to call the children’s hospital and ask them to give the family more time.

Getting people to call and harass a children’s hospital, especially the PICU, is a favorite among the anti-brain death camp.

Bobby Reyes stopped breathing on September 21st because of a severe asthma attack and went into cardiac arrest before emergency services arrived. He was life flighted to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor where extensive testing determined he was deceased. The hospital set a deadline for when the ventilator would be discontinued (Friday) so that relatives could come and say goodbye. The mother got a lawyer instead because she believes he will recover.

All care the hospital is providing right now will not be compensated by insurance. The hospital will also have to dedicate at least one PICU nurse to monitor this teen 24/7. The hospital has followed Michigan state law on determining death.

Oh, also, yeah, I guess that article also ends with more evidence that “birthing therapy” is a weird form of abuse in itself. I’m pretty sure I heard something a while ago about some cougar therapist who made an adult client go through birthing therapy because she wanted him to herself.
