The problem with this edit is it implies these are the back covers where the blurbs and synopsis usually go. Don't the people who do this usually just lay the book flat against the other books on the shelf anyway?

That one isn't an edit. Though I never noticed the books were backwards, lol.

But that's the only thread I can think of where there was active arguing about the thread's merit before Stonetoss' thread.

I think I've seen it in a couple of threads, including jordan peterson's thread.

Jordan Peterson doesn't strike me as a cow but he's had lots of gaffes, though that's to be expected from someone whose job it is to just talk, talk, talk.

This guy's artwork is just so gross to look at. Every character has duck face.

Also get a load of that hand grip. The thumb is just some abnormal growth from the palm that doesn't grasp the book and the rest of his hand is gripping the book by the side of his fingers. All you have to do to draw a serviceable grip on a flat object like that is draw all the fingers parallel to each other. In fact, look at how the back of his hand is facing the viewer instead of the palm. Notice that the index finger curves straight into the thumb too.

It just gets worse the more I look at it.

A little nitpicky, but the art still makes sense. It's not unheard of for prolific books such as the Bible or Quran to not have anything but a design on the back cover. You don't really need a marketing blurb for religious texts. Granted, a book on the holocaust would be a bit strange just having "HOLOCAUST" written on the back cover. But all three instances are clearly just for the clarity of the joke. You need the comic to progress from left to right, so the joke wouldn't work as well if they were placing the books into the shelf in a way which correctly shows the front cover. I don't know what you mean when you say if "people just lay the book flat against other books on the shelf."



As for everything else, it's just his style more than anything. His characters are skinny and simple, with no sharp angles on elbows or fingers, identical to really early Mickey Mouse artstyles. Ignoring that the hand grip looks a little loose and the thumb being position oddly on the palm (and perfectly straight), I don't identify anything particularly wrong with it.

A better criticism is just that the comic is lazily copied and pasted three times. But, once again, this is done for the sake of the joke.

But they are inserting the books vertically. They're also not laying it on the edge of the shelf, the comic captures them in the middle of inserting the books between the other books.

I meant that people who put religious and historical books in the fiction section usually just lay them flat like that to put them in plain sight, so having drawn it that way would've eliminated the backward insert/backward book cover problem entirely.

Actually, just reversing the entire comic would fix the problem. Then the cover text and spines would both face the right way.

I suppose. Comedy, especially delivery, is subjective. That's just how it would work best in my opinion.

It's probably just drawn wrong, but you could just put the book in the shelf like his original drawing to draw attention to it. If I were to see a book backwards in a library, I'd probably pull it out to see what it even is, then put it back to where you could read it.

Part of the potential here is the way he reacts to his blatant unfunniness, as seen as a trend in his Twitter, where he routinely responds to reddit and other twitter posts that criticize him, which reminds me of someome who's pretending like it isn't when it really is.

I think everybody sympathises with the bagel manlet. He obviously got the short end of the stick. No wonder he has a short fuse. If people had a tiny bit of empathy they'd understand his shortcomings and that the way people treated him really came up short. It is only a small thing to ask people to reduce their expectations and not minimize his obvious pain. Problems like he has dwarfs what you and I have to deal with on a daily basis.

These comics are shit. There's maybe one or two ones that made me go 'hah' or 'that's clever'. The rest are either outright unfunny or make references and not jokes. Also the Nazi thing is super weird. I can understand using Nazis as a punchline to a joke, but I don't see that happening here. It just seems thrown in there.

Very bizarre. Based on what I've seen, I don't know if I'd consider stonetoss himself a lolcow (this is not a criticism of the thread or an assertion that it should be deleted, just a personal opinion), but without a doubt a huge portion of his fanbase falls into that category; as is demonstrated by this thread
