I'm reasonably certain this would be in the category of "things he would expect Funimation to do", and likely has a general response planned. An anti-SLAPP motion isn't exactly an outrageous thing to file with regards to a defamation suit, and the potential cost-benefit for Funi probably made it worth doing.

Whether or not it actually has any chance of being successful is another story entirely.

So basically, Funimation has done what MoRonica and Jamie should've already done before depositions and discovery were ever on the table?

As @I can't imagine said, it's pretty much the expected gambit. It stays discovery for up to 60-90 days (or until a judge rules on it before then), and usually is just granted if you don't try and pull cool lawyer tricks like Casey wanted to (weaponizing it to depose one party while shielding another.)

Also, I suspect Casey is going to use this to further delay responding timely to Ty's original discovery requests, which he objected to and (at best) answered "in part."

To make it simple, not really.
The TCPA wont really affect the MoRons due to the motion to compel and the fact their answers aren't within legal bounds.

The TCPA, by what we can see by the leak is a pretty weak one too. It doesn't use their own investigation but rather a tweet from Vic that doesn't state he did what everyone thinks he did, and articles that are either proven false or articles that's biased. This means it would be fairly easy to prove there is a case thus quashing the TCPA.

Greg The Douche showed up when a bunch of other changes came about. I wouldn't be surprised if there's info shared in a discord and they have a kv drone waiting at the courthouse once these get filed. And they would know when they get filed. And/or they are connected to Funi's defense.

Greg is/was a Republican politician
Funi is co-owned by a prominent Republican politician.

What are you talking about, this filing is amazing...if Vic was suing for wrongful termination.

Why do all these people seem to forget that it's people using this investigation when they shouldn't know the details and conflating it with rape and child molestation that it is the problem?

They were definitely waiting for whatever moronica had to say in their deposition though. I figure that Moronica denied being agents of Funimation or said nothing else incriminating for Funimation. Funimation likely feels like they can take the gamble safely now and file TCPA.
If they get out of the lawsuit, it leaves the other 3 on the hook and Funi won't be compelled to do anything.

Well, in their initial response they never denied it, my guess is funi is just trying it since there's no penalty if the tcpa is rejected, and if it is, they're going to look at settling.
 
Lol @ Douchette taking a victory lap because Funi filed a TCPA, something everyone and their dog's cousin's brother knew was coming at some point. From day 1 Nick has said that the case against Funi was the weakest of the 4 so even if they win it, again we all knew that was the one that was a possibility. Hey Greg....care to make a wager on Ron being successful with a TCPA?

They're also having the same reaction to the filing that they did when Funi filed their original answer. "Lololol Funimation said Vic's reputation is so bad he can't be libeled any worse lololol GET DUNKED VIC."
