I really enjoy the theories, except that you guys forget the fact that her mom, the one she wants to stay in the house for one month ( a whole month) with the thumb plus the dog (leaving the cats to fend for themselves at Rafe's), lives with the psycho, evil, twisted, liar aunt that she hates.
She is not going to stay under the same roof as aunt Tammie... is she?

Amberlynn might be playing the narc game called triangulation. Perhaps she doesn't actually care about seeing her mother and is just pretending to care in hopes of causing static between her mother and aunt Tammie. She's claiming that her mother said she can visit any time and that a month-long visit would be no problem, but she's leaving out that her druggie mother doesn't even have her own place. She lives with her sister, Tammie!
If Amberlynn plays up how much she needs her mommy but Tammie expresses concerns about a visit especially a month-long visit where she brings her girlfriend and a damn dog, it might cause a rift between Tammie and AL's mother.

I honestly don't think Tammie and her mom will have a rift of any kind.
Hamber's mom is a recovered(ing. You never really ever get over it) addict whose daughter doesn't give a shit about her. I don't think her mom is stupid about how little Hamber values her.

I'll go ahead and play devil's advocate and say that Hambubger isn't trying to guilt Necky at all. She's more or less trying to fuck with Necky's head. She can't even get Necky to leave Monticello. They ain't going anywhere. The only place they'll be at is the drive-thru at Wendy's.

With all due respect, I think you're imagining Amber having far more intelligence than she has. The most likely explanation is always the most obvious and to me, that is that her mum is still on probation so can't leave the state.

Twinkie always looks so sad. I know some dogs just have a pathetic look to them sometimes, but Twinkie always looks like she is depressed or scared. I would love to see a pic of her looking happy, with her tongue out running around
