What are some nice online communities out there? - Or communities that you miss and that are gone now?

I used to shitpost with the people at the grimcity.com forum.
That website isn't even around anymore.

the old fatpeoplehate on reddit. there were a couple posters that would SCOUR Tumblr on a daily basis and post these amazing threads full of danger haired super fats with biting commentary that you could read for 10-15 minutes sometimes non stop laughing and cringing.

the fatpeoplehate on voat is utter trash in comparison. they have ruined it with stupid powerleveling and pointless political talk.

Kiwi Farms is definitely one of the best online communities I've been in and that's zero joke. The ability to speak your mind and to have a tight knit userbase that is knowledgeable in many things is nothing short of magical. People falsely shit on Kiwi Farms by saying that we're a bunch of white male alt-right brutes, but we span many spectrums.
 
"Nice" sounds like an euphemism for "gay". I want no part of "nice" communities.
 
i started on newgrounds, the old bbs was amazing, i remember getting banned all the time by eyelovepoozy, egoraptor flashes, sick animation, kitty krew, etc. its still a pretty nice site with all the animation and art that it produces, i'll still pop in once in a while and favorite some stuff, but the bbs is long dead

then onto 4chan, particularly /v/, because some kid named samueltehgeek mentioned it in a youtube video

i remember the old cwc updates, hamburger hepler, 4 am stu threads, quentin, protomen, vinesauce, mods spamming music like erasure and girls generation, ctrl alt del the annotated series, etc

i'd seen the kiwifarms name before, but i confused it with a 4chan archive site called veekyforums, i didnt distinguish the two

I've lurked for a long time, newgrounds, the chans, and would pop in here from time to time. It was this place that had the right balance of autism for me, so I created an account not too long ago.

I have fond memories of trolling users through yahoo and msn chat rooms, even the chat in WinMX.
 
The /po/ board on 4chan has some nice and friendly people however it’s easily the slowest board and raids or troll posts will spend last a year on there. Just a few anons posting papes. Every once and a while you get genuine good stuff from the creative boards. How 2chan manages to be popular when how shit 90% of 4chan is.

Other than that, most websites seem to have a “win condition” people aim for like a bunch of likes on Facebook or reddit upvotes. So many times I get cut and paste instagram comments, or repeated follow-unfollow-follows to try to get me to notice them. Here people just post shit and laugh because our stickers don’t matter.
 
I was part of another board for years when I was a bit more political correct. I really had no problem with those people because the board was for an specific fandom and I could tolerate some of their "liberal" ideas as long as we discuss the topic of the board.

I stopped going due to IRL issues for a while, and was during that time that I, for the lack of a better word, took the "red pill" after I was exposed to SJW lunacy (gamergate, NYE in Germany, etc). Of course, any hint of PC in me was gone when I discover that SJWs were nasty people. I thought they were only sensitive people who exaggerated too much on worrying about vullnerable groups, but I realised they were cruel and petty.

When I returned to the board some months ago, wowza! what a fucking toxic place. Everybody's just waiting to be offended, even those who are somehow a little bit more open-minded, are quite passive aggressive about your "wrong views". The place that is so careful on protecting everybody's feelings is like living under the Iron Curtain.

Here, things are chill.
 
Wouldn't call it a "nice" community, but I miss the old Cringe Channel. There were some funny fucks on there, it was the only community/forum I ever joined before KF. I used ths same name and avatar as well.

Does anyone know what happened to it?
 
The combatace.com forums are historically extremely patient old dudes making mods for strike fighters 2 and talking about planes they used to fly or work on. I've seen them brag about grand kids, post about losing family and other personally important things and get tons of support from each other in the process.

I used to lurk there before DCS finally got decent western planes, one time some teenage kid that was a regular posted a thread about getting a girl to agree to go to prom with him and being nervous about not knowing what to do, wear or say and it got tons of replies with good advice and encouragement
 
I can't really think of any great online communities, tbh; most are mired in identity politics and favoritism.

I stay with KF because it's a place where you can share ideas and thoughts, be challenged on them and vice versa; we are a hella diverse group of people on a site that honestly caters, to an extent, to everyone and promotes freedom of thought and expression based upon what it is as opposed to being purely relegated to "respected classes".

You can call someone an idiot and be called one in return, not so much for who/what you are, but for the opinions expressed.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; KF is my online safe space. I know it's the same for others who just want a place where they can talk without being hounded down for "wrongthink".

So many "accepting" online communities are anything but and one thing I love about this place is not being required to "out myself" or my identity just to be able to make a valid point.
 
KF is without a doubt one of the nicest ones, specifically because people don't censor themselves. If someone says something really fucking stupid, they'll be told so. At the same time, there are topics and categories for pretty much everything here.

I do browse Flashback quite a bit too since it's basically the Scandinavian equivalent of KF, just more cucked. But people there talk about all kinds of shit. Gotten some nice advice there in the past.

WinMX chat, man that was the shit. What was that other program? Dc++? That had entire rooms and chats. But WinMX was superior in style and even content if you knew how to look for it.

I stil use Tixati for Torrents, it has the same no-frills approach as WinMX and directly copied the design. Check it out:
