He needs to stop talking about Korrasami. Yes, I'm glad it happened too, but whenever Dobson does/says anything related to the ship he's basically turning it into a creepy fetish. Fact is, it would be completely different if he was gushing over a heterosexual pairing, even though the uncomfortable "you're how old and they're cartoon teenagers" factor would still be there. At least with a straight couple there's something for him to personally relate to. Here you can tell that he's getting turned on by the fact that two attractive women have entered into a romance. That's where the "fetish" factor comes in. Dobson - despite how hard he wishes it were true - is not a lesbian or a bisexual woman. There are so many levels to which he is removed from these character's sexuality, and yet that's the source of his obsession.
This is like when I come across a fanfic featuring lesbian characters, but written by a man. Or the ever-popular yaoi stories written by women. The author can't speak from a personal experience because they lack even the physiological requirements to be a part of the group they're penning explicit sex scenes about. It's clear that they're in it just for the sexual aspect. To that end, Dobson embodies the reason why I get uncomfortable with any kind of PDA in public; even if me and my girlfriend are simply holding hands. I know that simple hand holding is enough to be a spectacle to someone.
I'm not saying that you have to be gay to ship gay characters or even straight to ship straight characters. But there's a fine line between thinking two characters make a great couple and turning their relationship into a sexual fantasy. Dobson spent how many hours editing a movie-length video of Korrasami supercuts simply so he can go "SEE! IT'S TOTALLY LEGIT FOR ME TO SHIP THESE TWO!" to his detractors? And I have to ask: what is the personal gain for him? The only answer I can come up with is the satisfaction that any erotica he reads about them is backed up by series' canon. How progressive of him.
