The white Savior complex really is getting worse.
Pretty much at this point anytime I see some white person trying to "protect," any minority like this, I just know they have or still are racist to those very same people and this is thier way to cover it up.

Watch in like a few months time she will ethier insult native americans because she thinks doing this makes her an ally or now an honory native american thus she is in the clear to say horrible shit about them.

Or she has an old history we probably see at some point of insulting them and blah blah blah

Same shit different user, god damn it not funny anymore to see this same bullshit over and over

Or she'll do it out of spite because more Natives will tell her to stop and just fuck right off with her white savior complex; we don't need to be saved. If she wanted to help, she'd confront stereotypes and focus on the promotion of Native media and awareness. She's just as racist as people who are, well, racist; she sees us as people who need her support as a white person and who cannot fight our own fights without her intervention, as a white person.

Normally, this shit is just hilarious, but she's outright attacking an artist who has not only gone out of their way to research Native culture after the fact, but also created an image, beforehand, expressing her interest and desire to learn more.

I would hate for her to come to pow wow and see all of the white and non-native people who are invited to dance and take part in the party. All of those horrible, horrible privileged folk, appropriating culture as they dance with us and walk away with those lessons.

It's just so, so fucking awful that people take an interest and want to learn more and as a result, contribute towards the conservation of Native culture. As much as a joke as New Zealand is right now, we also want to have that kind of integration within mainstream society, where just as easily can a mixed group of people can perform a haka together, we can all come together for pow wow, engage in pipe ceremonies, lay tobacco down as a gift. We don't want to be exclusionary, we want to be included with the mainstream and the rest of society. This outsider, this mayagwewinini only serves to exclude us. She cannot define or attack what she thinks is offensive to us.

eta: I love the replacement with doge, lmfao

What bothers me is that furries are getting offended over a fictional character wearing probably a fictional native american tribe. If anything, shouldn't they also be offended when anime does it as well or any tv show does it as well?

tbh, I'm surprised there isn't a lot more outcry regarding racial kinks and attractions.

The Lakota have formally excluded non-indigenes from their ceremonies because they were tired of crazy white people like this bitch coming along and taking pictures like it's some kind of act you'd see at Disneyworld. Oooh, look at the noble savages maybe they can teach me about healing crystals!

They still let you in if you're white and not a moron though. If you're actually interested in Lakota culture and want to watch, sure. If your entire understanding of Lakota culture comes from New Age books you read as a teenager and you immediately start talking to tribal leaders about your spirit animal, bye.

If there's one lesson in that fandom, never show your art publicly - especially on twitter. If you do, you'll have people calling you racist, bigot, and a million other unnecessary insults!

Nonetheless, I feel genuinely bad that artist had to deal with so much hate over an innocent art. They don't deserve it, they really don't.

Has anyone thought to tell them that poles are considered to be victims of genocide due to the depredations of both the Nazis and the Communists during World War II? Between September 1939 and May of 1945, Poland lost 20% to 25% of It's population?

Unfortunately, sjws follow a strict code where they gravitate towards the most oppressed, non-white population and, in this WHO WAS OPPRESSED DA MOST contest, Native Americans “win” over Poles any day of the week.

It's funny how being called a “literal Nazi” is the buzzword for tackling racists and homophobes/transphobes now but, when Nazi atrocities that are directed towards white and presumably straight Poles is brought up, they couldn’t give two shits and still throw the ‘ur privileged’ argument in a Pole's face. Even though Neo-Nazism is as much of a problem in mainland Europe than it is in the US and has been for decades. Much longer than since Trump was elected and these Americans magically “care” about white supremacy in their country (and their country alone) all of a sudden.

It appears like white-on-white violence (no matter how heinous, like Nazis butchering Poles) is treated like a non-issue because every white person is “guilty by association” for every atrocity committed against non-whites throughout history. To some alarming extent, I think it's viewed as a "taste of their own medicine". Furthermore, sjws have this belief that no amount of genocide that impacts a population of white people will ever compare to the genocide that has impacted non-white populations.

The latter is the only type of genocide worthy of attention, and the entire white population on this planet dropping dead won't change that because whites are viewed as irredeemably rotten to the core by sjws, especially those who are white and want to get 'woke' points from non-whites. Hence why a Canadian hippie trying to somehow present herself as an “honorary tribeswoman” thinks she can call a Pole every slur under the sun.

Of course, no sjw will admit this outright but it shows when they say 'well, they [the Poles/Irish/insert oppressed white folk here] were killed and/or oppressed because of their nationality, not because they were white' and proceed to just dismiss it. Which isn't the point. At all.

tl;dr version - it's all just a good ol' sport of Oppression Olympics.

If you want a way to piss off the woke furries on Twitter without trying, it's easy. Just draw a character wearing a Native American headdress. You'll mine salt in no time AND get people saying your country has never experienced hardship as a bonus.

Here's a twist though, this time the artist was Polish, meaning they finally got exposed to the anglosphere culture of being offended on the behalf of other races:

Want to avoid offending furries? Judging by what furries get offended over a good idea is to copy whatever crusty west-coast furries are into.

Here is a woke furry who slept through history class about WWII and the Nazis:

Furthermore some Native American furries saw the intent of the image wasn't to offend/mock their culture:

To be fair it's pretty predictable, it's going to be a million tweets like this and non-passing troon selfies:

its funny because poland is like the ireland of mainland europe getting buttfucked by their neighbors for centuries.

At least Polish slaves weren't cheaper than Africans like us Potato niggers were.

Back in the day africans were 3/5ths of a man, but in the britbong slave trade Irish were 1/5th of a nigger in value. :(

It's exactly this, really. The art isn't offensive, drawing tasteful FN themed art isn't offensive, partaking in FN traditions aren't offensive (and is actually encouraged by many bands), neither is showing an interest in our culture, regardless if you're from Poland or North American.

What is offensive to us, is the ignorant merchandising and commercialization of our cultures by people trying to make a quick buck off of costumes, accessories, etc that show no regard for our culture. What is offensive, is seeing non-natives pretending to be native, dressed up, and trying to hock their wares to unsuspecting tourists. These are things that have a direct impact.

Someone witnessing our culture, being inspired, and wanting to draw something from that inspiration is as inoffensive as it gets. She's not calling it "native art", she's not trying to make a profit off of appropriating a culture, she just saw something that she admired and wanted to emulate that.

This is just a white person trying to be offended for us and it's fucking annoying.

Miigwetch.

I watched the whole thing go down on twitter and your words are exactly what my opinions were on the subject as well. I actually found the piece beautiful and respectful, like, I'd much rather have someone show enough interest that they'd make a decently painted cougar lady in a native headdress, than these white fucks thinking their doing us a favor by 'protecting' the culture.

The drama continues...

Also, if you're of Native descent and you have the audacity to say that you don't find the art offensive? Be prepared to have some nobody on the internet invalidate your identity and tell you that your ancestors would be ashamed of you:

Because flying off the fucking handle and doing that over a difference of opinion is not discriminatory or rude at all.

From experience with Polish I've met and dealt with IRL and online, they're not the kind of people to easily back down on something when confronted. Especially when they feel like they're in the right.
Annoyingly, all these people are really clutching because actual natives have already commented to say they don't mind. I hate this kind of attitude; it's imperialist.
"We know better than you so we'll speak for you and your culture." No one ever asked them but suddenly they get to decide what is right and wrong when it comes to culture despite every person getting offended on the behalf of others are white. They're the real racists in this case.

Like somebody else has already mentioned, Poles have dealt with a lot of racism and stereotyping from the rest of Europe for years and I've also seen people like the "Nazis eat shit" (lol irony) individual above using this issue to harp on about how Europe - not just Poland - as a whole is filled with inconsiderate racists. Nice way to lump the oppressed with the oppressors.

I couldn't care less about whether or not the art counts as cultural appropriation because it's not really my call as a white individual but going off-topic and using this artist to invalidate the experiences that an entire country has gone through on the basis that their population is predominately white is the very opposite of "tackling racism". It just makes me wonder if the artist and their behaviour would get a pass if they were black? If the answer to that question is 'yes', then I guess I'm not the only one who doesn't really care about the cultural appropriation here.

Imagine wanting to "protect" native american and help their right by discouraging amyone to even touch it and threating the native like they were dumb endangered animals.

Those guy are doing more of a disservice than anything, really. I can't blame the artist if she decide to close her twitter for a moment to let the shitstorm pass.

Tbh I saw people who are Natives attacking her and saying it was racist, so there wasn’t simply overwhelming support for it from every Native person.

Frankly I think the image was in poor taste, but I also don’t think launching a massive attack on the artist was worth it. Apparently the artist got so overwhelmed by the negative response that she said she “no longer has any sympathies for their struggles,” which really set people off too lmao.
