The thing is, shows that aren't currently hosted on Funimation still have their series pages up. So I dunno. Maybe Funimation has physical release rights? That might be it. Other than that, Funimation has no involvement in the dub. An LA-based studio is doing the adaptation.

Dunno if I'd call Monster Girls an ecchi, but I can see your point. As for the Prison School, Jamie was the head writer, and it was Tyson Rhinehart (I think) who actually wrote in the Gamergate line. Sure, she had to okay the line, but it technically wasn't her. in Gal she was just a voice actress and had nothing to do with the script.... though, sure, she could strongarm the writers. Again, Occam's Razor. For Dragon Maid, which Jamie wrote, the line was blatantly political, though someone dude interpreted the raw Japanese dialogue and concluded the line wasn't completely out of left field. For Monster Girls... Jamie was again an actress without creative input as far as I know. Kristen McGuire was the writer for that, and it's the most harmless of the examples we have, I think. Her other scripts have been good so far.
As far as I know the original line in Dragon Maid was sort of neutral, like an air headed "yeah, I didn't notice the looks but I changed it after people pointed it out". That's kind of the point of the character. It's blatantly political and hamfisted in the dub, meanwhile. Either way, the Dragon Maid dub is atrocious, so it doesn't matter to me. I stuck to subs and quit halfway through the series anyways, slice of life series like that tend to make me cringe too much.

ahh Nick is kinda gettin lolcow-y.
Yeah, cool it a bit Nick. I enjoy the rants, but in the other thread people were wondering if he would go full lolcow at some point.

Última edición:
Viz heavily censored Yu-Gi-Oh. Reading the original Japanese is a trip since Yami Yugi is total psychopath that has no problem with straight up murder including lighting a guy on fire alive. I've heard whispers of Pokemon Adventures getting toned down a bit since it's really brutal but I can't confirm since I don't read Adventures.
You might be misremembering stuff. Viz basically kept the original Yugioh manga almost untouched. Later editions toned down certain words in the script but aside from that all the violence and dark imagery is kept intact. Even the Japanese names were kept. When the card game gets introduced they had to change names for legal reasons though.

Does Nick not realize that ad on the side of the website? If so, I find it funny how focused he is that he ignores such a thing in his periphery.
I always like seeing all the terrible, obnoxious ads whenever Nick goes on ANN. There are a number of people who whine and screech about him profiting off of victims, harassment, etc and yet you have ANN making a profit from all of this too. It hones in on the fact to how hollow and shallow the idea that ANN or its staff are "woke" when they have half naked anime girls plastered all over the site while trying to virtue signal.

I'm kinda mixed on that one. He's punching down which never looks good. But by the same token it is the freakin Con's social media director that is directly calling him racist. So he has a legit beef. I'm thinking their Social Media director is relocated to being the guy that sets up chairs in the big hall.

Anime North had ~35,000 attendees last year. Just based on attendance fees, that puts their budget well into the millions. If anything, they're the ones "punching down" by messing with a small Youtuber and self-employed solo practitioner.
