Dude, that's very simple.
Just make it where you can vote after serving in the military and have to pass a litmus test.
This would make sure that the people who are voting know what they are doing and not some bullshit meme votes like voting on who has the funniest name.

I disagree because requiring everyone to serve in the military would mean the following:

1. We would need more wars and other occasions for our boys to go out and shoot other people, meaning more interventionist wars that get our boys killed "for their own good";

2. Alternatively, you would have to expand the function of the military to include distinctly non-military activities, including things currently covered by private charities, thereby drastically increasing the scope of government interference and operation;

3. You would have to downgrade requirements to serve in the military, including and especially physical ones, or else risk disenfranchising people who have things like colorblindness or flat feet;

4. You would absolutely end up politicizing the military because it is the only way to become a voter, and therefore politicians would spend even more time trying to undermine the decent fellows in said military than they do now;

And for TL;DR's sake...

5. Compulsory anything is un-American. Fuck that noise.

The reason why land ownership was linked to voting in Greece was because men worked the land themselves and were expected to defend it themselves too. That’s also why property was patrilineal. Men made the land livable and women made the house into a home. If you want a serious idea about how to restrict voting to those who will think about long term consequences, then restrict it to those who are married and have children.

It stills astonishes me that that actually happened. They got their hands on Trump's tax returns, and they CLEARLY showed that Trump paid a metric asstonne of taxes, and they offered it up on national television like "A-HA! BUSTED!"

I mean, what the fuck? Did they seriously not even look at it? Are they so convinced that Trump is 100% corrupt that they just assumed he cheated on his taxes bigly? Or maybe they did look at it, but their TDS-addled minds just interpreted it in a way 180 degrees opposite of reality?

Whatever the case, it was an amazing spectacle to behold.

If you want to restrict voting rights a good start would be you have to have a job (or some sort of income) be able to vote, if you don't contribute to society you don't get to make decisions about it. (Doesn't apply to those unable to work, just the unwilling, also make so that if unemployment reaches a certain percentage everyone can vote again as a safeguard)
Having children is a good option too.

But is still pretty unlikely any restriction will be put on voting rights.

Speaking of stupid, there's one tiny little problem with tying voting rights to land ownership, and its name is Kelo v. City of New London.

Imagine being in a red-voter neighborhood when a majority-Democrat city council decides your house and your neighbors' houses would serve better as a truck stop (which, conveniently, doesn't even have to get built). Oh, and once they claim it, you become a renter. Now imagine them doing this right before an election.

Unless and until we permanently fix this little nasty bit of abuse of power, I don't think that particular restriction on voting rights will accomplish what you hope it will.

"Do you believe the US government should be able to create new restrictions on voting?"

If you say yes, you don't get to vote.
