I finally actually watched the flat Earth video, figuring that since I've enjoyed some of his content making fun of silly ideologies in the past, it might actually contain a few funny lines. It... didn't. And Jesus, it's been like a decade since the internet's embarrassing "bow ties are cool" stage came and went, but Hbomb seems to want to accentuate his resemblance to an elderly professor with dementia who can't be fired because of his tenure.

Maybe this was just an early sign of my future migration to the Kiwi Farms, but IMO Hbomb's best content was his videos making fun of specific people who have batshit crazy ideas. I think one reason for this is that Hbomb himself tends towards having some batshit crazy ideas of his own, so when he attempts a takedown of a group by proposing his own beliefs in place of theirs, the entirety of his content comes across as wacky, and not in the clever way he wants. The other reason is that Hbomb's potential for comedy is pretty much limited to the fact that something about his British character makes his over-the-top freak outs in response to weirdness kind of funny. When the comedy doesn't come from the outside content he is looking at in his video, there's no comedy at all. Flat Earthers are weird in that while it's kind of funny that they believe what they do, without finding a specific nutjob to focus on they look mostly like a blandly unhinged group, making Hbomb's video itself rather bland. This in turn calls attention to the moments when he lets his own nutty philosophy shine through.

The biggest problem with the video has already been said: no one needs to debunk flat Earth. No flat Earther is going to change minds watching Hbomb's video, and those who know that the Earth is not flat already know it. As I said, I think the greatest potential for an interesting and funny video would have come from focusing on a specific crazy individual, but since Hbomb says in the video that he wanted to present flat Earthers "as fairly as possible," examining the flat Earth community would have still been a better choice than examining their ideas themselves.

I used to listen to a flat Earth podcast. What drew me in was that most of the discussion on the podcast was about the various speakers' experiences in their daily lives as flat Earthers. These people had stories of being isolated by family and harassed by former friends for their beliefs, yet they still not only continued their adamant belief in a ludicrous theory but continued advertising that belief and promoting it. It was like its own little soap opera, following the pain that these individuals inflicted on themselves for no discernable reason. Now THAT would be an interesting flat Earth topic to explore.
 
Didn't Armored Skeptic already make some flat earth videos like four years ago. What is with these tards and being stuck in 2014?
