Depression is a serious mental illness that can effect literally anyone. The "you can't be depressed because I have it worse" argument is incredibly selfish. Depression is not an Olympic sport.
Also there are countries where it's legal to throw your troon ass off a cliff. You're not oppressed.

For a little crossover, an alleged sex pest from the Comicsgate thread had an issue of his comic where a character conflates "Ancient Aliens" guys with historians in general and claims those theories being based in racism. tbh I would love to find people IRL who think Giorgio Tsoukalos is some grand wizard in the klan, sounds hilarious.
Wait, there are people who consider Tsoukalos to be an actual historian? Wonders never cease.

The comments of that quillette article @Capsaicin Addict linked on page 1367 bring up an interesting point - so much of current leftist theology is built on what appears to be the opposite of cognitive behavioural therapy - wallowing in your failures and mistakes, blaming them on external forces, assuming you know how other people are thinking - these are all the direct opposite of how cbt works. I think sjws probably do have worse depression than others, because they go out of their way to increase it.

When what you're after is attention and sympathy on social media, then it really is a suffering competition. If there's a way to lie cheat, or otherwise break the rules to get ahead, someone will do it.
There's a pretty strong correlation between social networking usage and anxiety/depression. I'd bet money it's a causal relationship too, for the above reasons.

I mean, there are people who lived through the holocaust who are still alive today. Anybody who was a victim of American slavery is long dead by now. Who receives reparations when all the victims are gone? Nobody can do jackshit to change things that happened 100+ years before they were born.

At one moment, I could understand where this person was coming from. I don't believe that producers should get away with giving people shitty representations of gay people and just calling it a day. All it does is make it seem like they can insert x sexuality here and not do anything with it.
On the other hand this person also misses key points. What if it's important to the story that the lesbian couple breaks up? (using their example) What if it's a story about how gay relationships sometimes don't work out? That's a more powerful message than acting like every gay couple needs to be super-happy all the time and maintain appearances.
Why is this trans character played by a cis-man? Typecasting. It happens all the time in the industry. Trans actors that are willingly to out themselves as openly trans and be a capable actor are INCREDIBLY rare. There are so many factors that this person didn't even consider.
What if the trans person just isn't a good actor?
What if they don't pass well enough to fill a role?
What if they just don't want to do the part and feel uncomfortable?
Not everything is transphobia. These are real issues that affect production matters and can break a movie's production. That's why people usually stick to big name actors. They're considerably more reliable for shit like this.
If people are able to get a trans actor, good for them, but not everyone can. And that failure to understand that is why these people will never get what they want. Their criticism is based on faulty expectations.

100% guarantee this kid is going to grow up to be a fetish pornstar of some sort or another and probably die young from a combination of drugs, STDs, or murdered. Then everyone will blame homophobia or anything other than themselves for setting an innocent kid down this path.
"Phobia" is more accurately translated as an aversion to a thing. You can be averse something for a number of reasons: fear, disgust, a deeply-seeded feeling of "wrong", etc. So being revolted by gay people is technically being homophobic, but people like to say that homophobes are "afraid" of them. Probably because having someone fear you makes you feel powerful, whereas simply being revolting to people doesn't.

-phobic does not mean "afraid of" as a suffix. The name for rabies as "hydrophobia" does not mean people with rabies are afraid of water. In the sense of aversion or dislike of something, probably the national ones were first, i.e. "Germanophobia" or "Francophobia." Those do not mean fear of the nationality but dislike of it.
