Culture 53+ wounded and 10+ killed in Chicago warzone weekend. - Dundu nuffins turned south west Chi town into gangland warzone.

So the city with the strictest gun laws in the country, along with massive social programs in place for poor and inner city people, still can't get a handle on gangs. Surely it's because of Trump, right?

A spike in gun violence on Chicago's streets during the weekend prompted an impassioned news conference by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson Monday morning.

Preliminary totals show at least 10 people were killed and another 53 people were wounded in shootings between 5 p.m. on Friday and midnight Sunday.

Rev. Jesse Jackson tweeted, "Nine dead, dozens shot, trauma centers overwhelmed. We need sensible gun control, a plan for urban reconstruction, futures, not funerals."

Chicago police said a total of 66 people were shot from 6 p.m. on Friday to midnight on Sunday and 12 of those victims have died.

At a press conference Monday morning with Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said more needs to be done to hold repeat gun offenders accountable.

"It is the same people who are pulling the triggers in some of these communities. This isn't a widespread issue among citizens of the city. This is a small subset of individuals who think they can play by their own rules because they continue to get a slap on the wrist when we arrest them," Johnson said.

Police say they know some of the shootings have been random and some targeted and related to gang conflicts.

Which is the more heavily penalized crime; shooting at someone in Chicago, or open-carrying a disposable straw in California?

Didn't Illinois just declare an official Obama Day not to long ago?

Ironic.

Which is the best description of leftist politics coming home to roost, all that caring and compassion, you'll never hurt anyone's fee-fees, and you're stepping over bodies in the street because it'd be racist to tell LaVonn he can't joint a gang and propagating the white-power-structure if we prosecute him for illegally possessing a stolen gun.... see? Aren't we GREAT!?

So, like... where's the problem here?

Oh, the wounded?

Well, maybe if we give them like free gun lessons, then they'll be able to aim better and we won't have to waste tax money on patching up the wounded.

Get a congressional order to suspend posse comitatus and habeus corpus within the jurisdiction of Chicago and send in a division of Infantry to sort out the gangs. A round of military justice will leave an impact for at least 1 generation, and all the gang leaders can be sent to military penitentiary barracks instead of the state prisons run by their homies. Congress does have the power to do this.

But they wont.

Well, it's funny, the civic leaders are basically holding a presser to say "Won't someone DO something about this?"

If not you, the only higher authority is Federal assisstance and that's the Drump State, so that won't work......

It's like these ninnys are praying to the Progressive Gods.... "we did what you asked, we got rid of all the problematic stuff, why won't you save us?"

I'm reminded of something I heard on YouTube where Jordan Peterson was talking about a study that was conducted in the 1930s, where there was a group of "inner city" children in various cities who were at high risk to eventually wind up in jail. What they did, was take some of the underprivileged disadvantaged yutes, and take them to a summer camp for a few weeks. There was a control group that didn't get to go to summer camp. Then they did a follow-up over the years. What they found, which the head of the study had to repeat the study to make sure it wasn't an error, was that instead of improving things for the children that went to summer camp, it made them worse, and they had worse outcomes than the control group. Now, why do you suppose that is?

"Don't put a bunch of antisocial kids together for a few weeks. … The good kids didn't make the bad kids better. The bad kids made the good kids WORSE. This was a totally unexpected result. But this is the same thing as what happens in Prison." - Jordan Peterson

How old were these kids? Teenagers and preteens can be too far gone to be saved, but little kids(>10 yrs) usually aren't. And was the summer camp supposed to help them?
Poverty is a cycle that needs to be torn at the root and a few months at a summer camp won't help much. What at-risk kids need is consistent guidance and education, both at home and at school.

Caring about Chicago is starting to become basically like caring about Detroit: nobody does because it's pointless and hopeless.
I don't want to agree with you becuase it was my city years ago... But the White, Mexican, Asian, and Indian parts of the city are great, just stay out of the bad parts of town.

They also need to take all the “bad eggs” aand remove them from society so the little kids won’t be pressured to turn into gang shitheads later on.

But we’re talking mass incarceration of blacks which white progressives just can’t stomach. So let’s just let them continue shooting each other and innocent people in their neighborhood.
