I wouldn't worry about Cracked. I remember an SJW-y article calling a bunch of movies racist while missing the point of some of those movies. The comments ripped the article to shreds. With enough time, the same will probably happen to Zoe's article.

So what's the end game to all this? It just seems like nothing is going to come out of this. SJW will continue to get support and gaming journalism is just going to remain the same. I mean #GamerGate seems to be in folks memories, but there hasn't been a major event to push it over the edge and make people take a second look. I doubt there'll be one.

It seems a lot more people will ignore gaming journalism and journalists and probably look at indie games with a bit more scrutiny and bitterness, especially after the (unrelated) minecraft sell out.

I don't know if someone has posted this but regarding the IFred thing, they posted on their facebook page that they did receive indirect donations from and individual that could be Zoe Quinn.

https://www.facebook.com/ifredorg/posts/373372282788073

The thing that makes this all very confusing is months prior to all this drama Zoe had tweeted that iFred had contacted HER about doing something with Depression Quest. Apparently that wasn't the case since they had no idea what was going on, who she was, or if she had even donated at first.

"We are not affiliated with Depression Quest in any way, and understand they have taken down the statement about a donation in regards to iFred."

Zoe seems to do things in a really fucking stupid way that often deserves suspicion. Zoe may have lied about iFred contacting her but if she actually got money to a charity when she claimed she did then that's really just a minor evil in the grand scheme of things. However it's still just.. fucking stupid to make that claim like that when it isn't true.

The end game was to make an example of people misusing their positions in game journalism. Initially people wanted to see Zoe and five guys held accountable for what happened. Once it was apparent that no well-established gaming site was going to report the story in-depth then goals shifted and splintered. It became getting something that resembled justice but I don't think anyone could really be clear on what that was. No heads will roll. No empires will fall. What instead will happen will most likely be bittersweet. This whole thing has shown that gamers can become unified to a degree when angry enough. It's not much but it shows that the consumers have a breaking point. Kotaku has been known as a pretty shitty place to go if you want to get information on actual games but now it's shown how stubborn and condescending it can be. People who may have given it a click every now and again will probably avoid it like the plague. Zoe Quinn and Nathan Grayson WILL be associated with baggage. They'll probably forever be defined by this incident which some would say is worse than never being known at all.

All of this has also probably created more resentment between gamers and some developers and certainly some gaming sites. It'll also probably hurt things the next time their is an outrage in the gaming industry. While gamergate was/is a movement it eventually lost focus. It became a thing too big to maneuver that just clumsily and blindly shifted it's weight to anything of interest. So the next time people try to create awareness of something questionable going on it's possible the memory of this whole thing might make people think twice before giving support.

I like her a lot. I never want women to stop playing or developing games, just the opposite. I just want SJW trying to silence people or stifle creativity to stop. It'll never happen though.

... and the fact that she used her "womanhood" to get press.

Eh, maybe I'm sticking my neck out too much here, but it seems kind of weird to me that so many people are targeting her for this. I mean, if she did do this it's shitty, but the real problem is the kind of reviewers who'd give good reviews in return.

And yeah, the doxxing puts her beyond the pale. I'm just not sure why this gets so much attention.

You're right. The journalists should be targeted more. The thing is they've been laying low and.. uh.. not openly trying to provoke an entire group of pissed off people. People went after Nathan Grayson and even infiltrated his friends list after he thought he cleaned it out, leaking his posts (In one he stated all gamers should be killed and that made a few rounds around the internet). People are still probably e-mailing companies that have ads on Kotaku because of him and a few others. We keep hearing about Zoe though because Zoe really seems insistent on keeping the spotlight on herself through her tweets. Even Maya Kramer, who may be just as guilty as Zoe in some past events, smartened up and created a private twitter to tweet to her friends.

P.S. Don't be afraid to go against the grain here. Things have surprisingly stayed pretty civil considering the topic and people seem open to new points of view. Any good conversation needs that so it doesn't become a circlejerk.

It's just so fucking cowardly. Back in the old days, Anonymous use to just openly harass people for the cruelty of it (or as they say, for the "lulz"). Using this "we only care about ethics" bullshit as a paper-thin justification for the raid is just sad.

AAA publishers have been manipulating the gaming press for DECADES - it's not a conspiracy theory, that's how the entertainment press works (you run a negative story about Tom Cruise, you don't get to interview him next time). Scores skew high, reviewers are under pressure to play ball. And 4chan didn't give two shits about it until they saw a chance to terrorize a woman - which is one of their favorite pastimes.
There's more but I can't seem to paste. Needless to say, I'm disappointed in David Wong as I usually enjoyed his articles.

My point is less that she did it, but it was one of the facts she left off in her "I'm a victim" screed, as would be expected.

You got to love people that get on a social media site, where their content will be shared with thousands of people, say something that shows their character and how utterly stupid they are and then assume that by clicking "private" that no one will see or share what they say.

I didn't watch that video, but based on the context of your post, I'm going to guess she'll be harassed by SJWs saying she's a "traitor" or somesuch.
I watched the video and read some of the comments, and it seems SWJs think that, since she has a history of saying that 'there's nothing wrong with men being different than women, but we're all people so we should have equal rights,' she is a Mens Rights Activist.

I saw this and thought it was a really good take on gamergate:
http://daemonpro.tumblr.com/post/97625002839/a-personal-statement-from-an-indie-dev-on-why

tl;dr Developers shouldn't have to question whether their game is getting good reviews because it's a good game or simply because they're [insert minority]. Also, creating minority characters the SJWs don't approve of can create a bigger backlash than just making a game full of cis hetero white men.

I also think that the journos need a rude awakening but you also have to remember that it isn't just about the corruption in journalism thing.

- The Fine Young Capitalists
- Rebel Jam
- Advocating that cheating on your partner and not disclosing it meant that any future sex with them is rape and then cheating on her bf with at least 5 different men. One of those men was also married... That is some grade A hypocrisy right there. If she hadn't made such a huge deal about 'infidelity = rape' then far less people would give a shit about her sex life.

Also cheated on him with a woman. Who was an IGF chair and a head of IndieCade. Hi, Maya.

Why are you such a rapist, Zoe?

Gothicserpent dijo:
Too bad she's going do be drowned out by a purple haired slut and a con artist with the face of a horse.

One, c'mon, be better than that, Gothic.

Two, no, not necessarily. Zoe seems to have more exposure because many groups have their sights locked on her in case she so much as farts out of line, and Zoe also has her own echo chamber, but we needn't let Christina Sommers' article go unsaid. Watch it. Spread it. Show others. You guys helped give it exposure just by showing it to us; now show it to everyone else. We'll do the same. If it reaches even a handful of additional people that way, that's that many more eyes opened.

Fight on, fothermuckers.

And now Polygon calls her a conservative for lambasting feminist apparently.

Also, Dawkins makes a response and something on Maya Kramer in relation to Polygon.
