Per the prestream, Phil will be able to "take care of" his back state taxes this month/very soon, but gosh darnit, those pesky federal taxes are still coming up. He's also still pushing tipping SUPER hard ($73 so far, so eh, I guess?). Referred to May as his BEST MONTH EVER (TM) again, which still makes absolutely no sense, but noted that b/c he won't get that money for two months (45 days = 2 months, now), he's still worried/stressed/shitting a brick about his bills coming up.

I gotta say, Phil can't play video games for shit, but he can walk the edge of a blade like a motherfucker.

Not just basing this on that abysmal record documented by Jim Bob, but someone in chat the other day (I believe it was the launch of the ST 30th, where Phil did actually go on quite a winning tear) asked what a typical Dave win-loss record was in a fighting stream session, and this Jim Bob cuck said he AVERAGES a 70-80% win record! I'm not gonna pretend I have any clue what his average win pct ACTUALLY is, but... it can't be THAT? Can it??

In the Switch version of USF2, Phil did actually typically win 70+% of this matches (at least going by JimBob's counts). But that's due to the fact that he faced the kind of people who bought USF2 on fucking Switch. The only times he generally lost were when facing the boss characters (Akuma, V. Ken, etc). Now that he's facing actual competent competition, he's struggling.

Its the typical DSP-cycle:
He plays a new fighting game -> beats on scrubs and maintains a high win-streak -> couple days to a week later the competition gets better and he starts losing more and more games -> shits on the game before rage-quitting/deleting it.

This hurts my heart a little bit. What we have here is, no was, a decent Street Fighter Turbo player (shitty port etc.) who doesn't realise he's getting older. When Phil gets older into his 60's he's still gonna type out shitty tweets about how hes good at fighting games, by his standards.

This level of delusion is sad, interesting to watch but still sad.
Never change Phil "Manchild" Burnell.

His rant about the 'fightcade tryhards' on SFT is fascinating on every level.

1. He calls these people 'tryhards', but then shits on games that aren't at a 'competitive level'. So are you a tryhard Phil, or not? Because if you're not, then that 'competitive' level shit you use is a pointless excuse for your failures because you'll never be at a level where it matters, and you deride people who are apparently. You cannot have it both ways.

2. This means the version isn't bad, it's practically the most played contemporary version, it just requires he adapts. So then he refuses to adapt, which he previously said is one of his greatest strengths, and just complains instead. This squarely puts the blame on Phil, even though he won't see it that way.

3. He is dumping on the game, and these players, for exactly the same reason he says people dumped on his EVO 'win' (4th). He won on a version that people felt was not 'legit', but Phil took the time to learn it. So then that means Phil was a stupid tryhard and the win was not legitimate, because he apparently believes that reasoning is sound. The fact that he can't connect those simple dots is a testament to his stupidity.

The whole rant was regrettable because it wasn't even his usual 3rd party excuse of lag. This was just straight up tipping his hand that he is an elitist dinosaur who can't adapt, and he should be denied his past successes by that same logic. That was some shortsighted salt even by his standards.

I would like to point out that, as far as I can tell, DSP had never once mentioned ST or Super Turbo on Twitter until late May.

EDIT: or Third Strike or 3S.

EDIT: I think maybe Twitter only searches back a certain time period, I can't find mentions of Street Fighter from before the end of May either which I'm 99% sure is wrong.

So Phil has officially called the port of Super Turbo broken, but the cherry on top is that he's now said that the reason he gets bahdied by all these players so much is that they've played the game at that incorrect speed before on emulator, so they have an unfair advantage over him. I mean, he must know what he's talking about! He got 4th place on Super Turbo at Evo! How'd he do that again?

He truly is a gift at times.

I love it, he's trying to force the slowed down PS1 port that no one played as the gold standard to protect his pissbaby ego. And he's shitting on a game that when played offline is a perfect replica of the arcade version. He is desperately lying to himself all over a fucking participation award at EVO 2005.

I wasn't expecting this period to be interesting given my opinion on his fighting game LPs, but this was shockingly fun.

Some people just can't handle fame or riches, it makes them irrational. The few things that Phil's famous for he has to rationalize when in jeopardy, and all infamy is just jealousy to him.

"Not going to work with this lag- not lag, speed" hot damn, it must suck to have so many excuses in your life that you're just verbally tripping over them now. And calling the people "tryhards" at the game's higher speed? Dipshit, a braggart who can't shut the fuck up about his "#1 US players at EVO" doesn't get to call other people tryhards.

Actually... does anyone know if this comparison to the fightcade version is even accurate? I've seen from several sources that SF30 is faster because of the emulation, but Phil's the first one I've heard suggest that specifically fightcade players are going to have the advantage here.

I ask because Phil doesn't play fightcade (that we know of?) and therefore this is all just an assumption on his part. It's possible he just completely pulled this whole narrative out of his ass. Even more than he obviously already did.

Noob here, but I was under the impression that AIs in fighting games always get to do weird cheaty stuff that you can't do as a player. You know, to make up for the inherently unfair matchup between a human mind and whatever kind of AI routine can be programmed into a tiny Super Nintendo cartridge.

Okay, so how it works is everything the character can so is essentially a button. So, like walking backwards and using Sonic Booms is possible, dependimg on the game. Opposed to a person, because the move has to be charged and finished going forwards. If that makes sense.

It can't break the rules of the game. Like Ryu can't do a fireball in mid air. Especially combos. You can only do those off of certain frames and stuff. The game can't just make those up.

So in short, the game cheats by ignoring physical input limits. And reading your inputs. It doesn't change the fucking code.

Damn, Super Turbo has done a great job of bringing out the worst (best?) in Phil. It also shows just how delusional he is about the game. In his vlahg talking about Evo 2005, he even admitted that he didn't play the game often, and he mainly went to Evo to play Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, which was his main game. That 4th place was the ultimate fluke.

So does anyone have any idea how he placed in MVC2, then?

I'm watching Phil's own uploads of his 3S matches (I don't think they've been compiled by other people yet) and the crazy fact is that those people who do TIHYDPs and DSP Tries Its aren't cherry-picking at all. He's always that fucking bad.
