Probably because some of these guys don't like losing, especially to a woman. Even then, it doesn't change the fact that they lost.
They're losers in every sense of the word.

Edit:
Don't forget to stop by The Fine Young Capitalists and preorder whatever game wins! It's only $5, and even if it ends up being a piece of crap the money goes to charity.

The thing that annoys me is she can essentially lives off donations. She has made a career off social networking amongst the indie game dev scene. Depression Quest is the only game she's ever made. She gets at least 2k a month from her patreon account which is basically just monthly donations from people. She has no real body of work that can justify that. Her fame started in (April?) after the alleged harassment she received which is now pointing toward being faked. It's amazing.
I know a lot of people use the term "professional victim" as satire, but Zoe really is a professional victim; Someone who makes their living by by being "harassed".

I'm not sure who I feel more insulted for here, /v/ or the KKK. Do you guys remember that time /v/ had all those governors and senators in its pocket and used its power to change laws in order to keep the black man down? I sure don't.

Its a loaded question, and loaded with armor-peircers at that. On one hand, it allows Relyt22 to say "Oh huff! Theese 'fine young capitalists' will gladly accept money from a racist organization, just as they gladly accept money from 4chan, a group of misogoners!". Likewise if TFYC said no (and honestly, they probobly should have kept their mouth shut) it allows Relyt to say "Oh huff! Theese 'fine young capitalists' pick and choose who gets to donate! SJW friends, I think we found ourselves a GROUP OF MISOGYNISTS!"

It is very self righteous to deny money from an organization you disagree with, even though it's for a good cause.

If someone wants to donate altruistically I do not care what their political or social motivations are. Only that they want to contribute. It's an SJW tactic to judge a person based on how they identify solely so you can hate and segregate them.

And you know this "Social Justice Witch" person doesn't care about TFYC's answer. They are asking that question entirely to try and discredit them, and it hasn't worked at all.

Yeaaahhh... something is fishy here as far as the donation thing goes. If this is the case, someday she is going to get caught, and I really mean get caught. This kind of fraud can land her in prison for a while.

I have to admit that I was partially on Zoe's side but after reading the last two pages of this thread and finding out that she is scamming makes me mad. I have mentioned before that I suffer from bi-polar and part of that is getting depressed, like a lot so the fact that she may be running a scam and using the name of a charity organization without their knowledge just burns me.

TFYC's response is a thing of beauty. They need some of my money.

It depends. With online gaming, it can absolutely be better. Unless you use voice chat the other players on your team will only judge you based on your play, not on your gender (which they wouldn't know). You'll probably still be called 'bitch' or 'fag' but that's just the nature of the beast.

But when I game with people who know my real gender, I definitely feel pressured to do better because I'm a girl. It may just be an internalized feeling, and girls who grew up in the 2000s may feel differently, I'm just saying that it's been my experience. Even then I don't see it as a huge deal. It's not something that would stop me from playing games. Still, I can see how it would prevent a lot of young girls from getting into gaming in the first place.

You can owe part of that to how society and culture influenced (and still influences to a degree) our upbringing. Generally, the stereotype of a video gamer has always been an ugly, lazy, male basement-dwelling nerd with social disorders. Does that generally appeal to women who are brought up in life with the social standard that they (and their life) have to be pretty and fulfilling? Where the classical view had once been that you need a strong man to protect you and whatever children you may have? The stereotype doesn't really fit this bill, and for the longest time people were ostracised as nerds just for playing video games. I would say these factors played a part in the low female gamer population in the past.

With that in mind, it's not surprising that being beaten by a female went hand-in-hand with total emasculation to the male gamer. Female gamers were quite rare, and many of them didn't play as competitively as their male counterparts, so what does that say about the skills of a guy who spends his every waking moment playing video games then gets beaten by the girl who only plays Harvest Moon once a month? Or the girl who uses her gender to get free gear in MMOs? Being looked down upon by society, video games were their escape and as a hobby they wanted to be dominant and competitive at it, and losing in this fashion was anything but.

Of course, that's only the competitive aspect. The social side of things is much worse in my opinion: sexual harassment, chauvinism, double standards and the like. I think that encountering female gamers has more often than not made them an outlet for the male gamer to try communicating with the fairer sex for intimate relations, when they're not the subject for venting frustrations on failing to communicate with said sex. I think a lot of male gamers do want female gamers to be more prominent in the gaming community, but they need to understand that they should neither put them on a pedestal nor demean them.

Basically, I think that the issue of women in gaming deserves to be talked about. Like adults. Adults who use facts.

I think it's something that's going to fade over time as social norms are broken down; however, people like Anita and Zoe are endangering that goal by either enacting exactly the same type of tactics they're lobbying against (Anita) or trying to give themselves the Celebrity Treatment and be excused of all their misgivings despite their unethical quality (Zoe).

PS - Just an added thought... do iPhone games like Bejeweled, which is played by a lot of women, really count as games? I've heard a lot of discussion on this and I've yet to come up with an answer. I think the distinction between 'casual' and 'hardcore' (or whatever you want to call it) definitely exists. There is a big difference between the person who only plays games on their phone while riding the subway and the person who sinks 600+ hours into Skyrim. I'm one of the latter (but also the former). I guess what I'm trying to say is I'd really like to see numbers on women in gaming based on the hours that they play, because I'm fairly sure that people who fall into the 'hardcore' category have mostly penises.

Mobile games, to me, do not count as video games. Just like how I wouldn't call the office girl who plays Solitaire in her free time a "gamer".

Comparing /v/ to the KKK isn't even a loaded question, it's just retarded.

TFYC should have made this clear instead of trying to counter by saying all money is welcomed.

If someone asks "yeah okay BUT would you accept money from the KKK?" you go "why are you asking such an exceptional hypothetical question" instead of "yeah it's just money lol" because then nobody learns.

Ditto. If it was me, I would have asked, "What does the KKK have to do with /v/?" Make her explain her retardation.

I don't know, one thing you're forgetting is that, if webcomics are anything to go by (and face it, if you're a straight guy who plays video games), girls playing video games and them beating you at Halo (or any other game) is kind of a turn-on, and video game makers tend to notice (watch the 2011 Ghost Recon Wii U trailer for more).

Of course she'd neglect to mention WHAT the supposed "mra" was trying to contact her about.
Honestly, I drew the line twice at the transdoxxing, really compared to the other things she's done, scamming is like the jaywalking of all the shit she's behind. And the people who still continue to kiss her ass? I've got no sympathy for them at all. They got played like a bunch of stupid twats because that's exactly what they are.

If it's who I think it is some journalist for the website Breitbart by the name of Milo Yiannopoulos I heard of the rumours surrounding her charity donations and tried to contact her to see if he couldn't get more info. He's written a couple of pro Gamergate articles before and /v/ absolutely loves him so it's no wonder she didn't want to talk to him. I think he may have tried contacting her by asking her questions over twitter as well so if you want to look it up you may want to go there (otherwise someone on /v/ will almost definitely have some screencaps).

That makes a lot of assumptions. I can't even begin to estimate how many hours I spent on WoW back in the day. 'Every waking moment' sounds about right, except for the times when I was in class. I didn't do arena but I raided a lot. I spent as much time earning my gear as most people in our guild.

That might be the thing that I hate most about people like Anita and Zoe. They reinforce this awful, sexist stereotype of women gamers who exploit their sexuality for favors and play only casual games. 600+ hours in Skyrim, 500+ hours in Civ V, and a combined 300+ hours in Fallout 3 & NV. I haven't got a life, damnit.

Yup, which is why I suspect a shit ton of tax fraud in the guise of "Oh noes, I just didn't understand accounting... Tee hee."

It would take professional accountants to unravel where everything came from and how much she owes to different people.

It seems she probably has. I added in the stuff she's put up in her defense here but it's really not very impressive.

Has anyone contacted the IRS over this? She might be able to get away with her bullshit with the tumblrites, but,
