Could someone explain to me anything that resulted from Finn and Rose's plot? What was the point of any of that? And also, great sacrifice, Haldo. Maybe next time try turning your ship around before you lose 2/3's of your fleet.

Nothing resulted from that fucking plot absolutely nothing.
I don't like Attack of the Clones. It is (or was) my least favorite movie for obvious reasons.
But you know one thing Attack of the Clones got right that The Last Jedi didn't was having scenes that had a fucking point. I hate the scene where Jar Jar is the reason why Palpatine comes into power, but you know that scene at least had a point.
That Finn/Rose shit had no point but to give Finn the SAME CHARACTER ARC HE HAD IN THE LAST MOVIE

I got back from the film and I have to say that it was awful. I could have never thought that after seeing a new Star Wars film that I want to watch the prequels to wash out the bad taste, but it finally happened. Fuck this movie, but more importantly fuck us all that we as stupid masses allowed such a project to be created for us to consume.

I'll keep my opinions of this film to myself... Otherwise, I got a feeling this is going to be one hell of a salt mine after this movie and how divisive (mostly negative) overall opinions are toward it.
Looking forward to how they wrap this up, however - and the salt it will generate.

I've given some thought as to how I feel about the movie more and yeah I actually do dislike it more than Attack of the Clones
I'm fully convinced at this point after The Force Awakens, Rogue One, and this movie that this is all an elaborate prank by Disney. They KNOW they are putting out garbage Star Wars films, they just want to see how many people eat this shit up because "It's Star Wars (and not a prequel), I gotta like it if it's S T A R W A R S !". Bravo Disney.
Attack of the Clones at least had scenes with purpose that progressed the plot in one way or another, regardless of how bad they were.
The Last Jedi wasted my fucking time with the Holdo/Finn/Poe/Rose garbage. I actually don't know how ANYONE could defend that entire fucking sequence of events that literally could have been entirely avoided if she had been forward with her plans OR if she had an actual reason to NOT be forward with her plans.
Rose was also a generally shit character and that romance between her and Finn was so fucking forced it wasn't even funny.
The humor in that movie was actually aids. The prank call helping destroy the dreadnought in the beginning, Luke drinking alien titty milk like a slob (what the fuck were they actually thinking?), Luke tickling Rey when she literally reaches out, BB-8 piloting an AT-ST, etc. The funniest parts of that movie weren't even jokes. Super-Leia was hilarious and I was dying in my seat when that happened because it was so surreal and the idea that somebody unironically wrote that is amazing. The other "joke" I liked was when Kylo Ren ordered ALL the AT-ATs to fire on Force-Luke and Hux stopped that shit and asked in an insulting manner something along the lines of "Do you think we got him?". That's Hux being an asshole (a correct asshole in the sense that holy shit overkill Ren what the fuck), it wasn't forced.
The lightspeed ram jump was visually cool, but also brings up one big question like "If jumping to lightspeed has enough destructive force to not only disable a ship that's 10-20x its size, but also completely decimate the fleet behind that giant ship then why didn't they ever fucking do this before?".
Then there's the complete destruction of Luke as a character with him contemplating murdering his fucking nephew in his sleep with his lightsaber turned on for some reason because his nephew had a lot of darkness in him or something. You know who also had a lot of darkness in him? Darth Vader. He slaughtered his fellow Jedi (kids and all), blew up a planet, tortured his daughter, cut off the hand of his son, froze his children's friend and sold him to a slug, and more but Luke still fucking risked his life to save his father.
Rey also gets no training in this movie at all. I'm sorry, contemplating the Force on a rock and giving into dark temptation nearly isn't fucking training. Swinging a lightsaber at an unmoving rock isn't training also. Luke failed completely at lifting his X-Wing out of the swamps on Dagobah. Rey? Eh, fuck big ass boulders easy peasy LOL.
And poor Snoke. The head of a mysterious group following in the Empire's footsteps that comes from nowhere I guess. Insanely deformed and incredibly powerful with the Force. Somehow tempts Kylo Ren to the dark side despite Kylo living at the Jedi Temple with Luke and other students. And he just gets killed off before anything about him is revealed. What a fucking waste of a character.
People praise TLJ for subverting expectations. People expected Rey to be trained, expected Snoke to have some fucking character, expected Luke to be actually Luke, etc. But honestly what's the point in fooling audience expectation if the twist itself is shitty and makes no sense? It adds NOTHING to the story if your plot twists aren't actually good aside and are just there to trick people.

They tried to save the day through a crazy scheme but their actions resulted in most of the escapees dying when their hacker sold them out. Also, some scenes are meant (not really) to make the Resistance look a little gray.

I think it I like it better than TFA a little, and it is definately better than Rogue One. There are a lot of action scenes and a lot of humor involved. You propably want to get a beer or two before you see the movie.
Its not nearly original level, but its a fun thing to watch. Just don't think, really, drink something and relish all the action scenes.
Also, Chink-sis kills the Imperial ship captain Kennedy? Did I hear his name right? That's one assassination solved!
I did laugh at the fact that the rebel fleet was in visual range but still out of weapons range of a 60km wide giant space boomerang.
I guess sci fi writers really have no idea of scale.
IT was worth a torrent and a beer.

The one thing I find weird is how unalien the new movies are. While the old films were human-centric, it really did feel like an alien environment with the different species all speaking different languages. This is pretty much all English, which I feel normalizes the universe. Plus that casino felt really out of place.
