One of the most irritating things about Trump is that sometimes his hubris gets in the way of communicating his message properly.
He wants Israeli Iron Dome technology and drone technology. He's willing to exchange some of our AI technology with Israel as part of it. That's what the joint project is going to be. Instead of just saying so, he rattles on about "It's a really great deal, the best deal ever, Bibi is our best friend" instead of explaining what he wants and why he wants it. This leaves the door open to widespread sperging and even panic, because he didn't properly explain the point of the whole thing.
That's why Trump wants Greenland. He need it for one of the corners of his own Iron Dome. But instead of just leading with that fact, he starts by saying "We're going to get Greenland, and if they don't give it to us, we'll just take it," starting a round of squealing and kvetching that drowns out the issue at hand. Most people still don't know why Trump wants Greenland, even conservatives.
Same with the ballroom. Instead of pointing out what a horrendous security risk that hiring out random hotel ballrooms is and the many previous assassination attempts throughout US history at outsourced ballrooms events, he leads with "It's going to be beautiful, it's going to be the biggest, most lavish, bestest ballroom in the world" and everybody goes crazy and complains about the waste of money and Trump's taste in decor.
Sometimes I think he does this on purpose because he enjoys the chaos and pissing and moaning from the libs. As amusing as this can be, it's not the most effective way to get things done though. I voted for Trump because I wanted him to get things done. Sometimes he does get things done, but other times, his poor communication style is a hindrance rather than a help. I don't regret voting for him, but he does annoy me on a pretty regular basis.
