You have the younger generation wanting socialist policies, while the older generations want the economy mostly the same, save for more money towards well-established programs. Even if the older style Democrat wins in one place, the same type of Democrat can lose horribly in another, which will ultimately create more tensions in Congress, even if the Democrats have full control. Keeping 'books' is obsolete. Double booking accounting only exists because there was a delay between the banking 'funds' and the AR/AP/GL company updates. The entire concept of GAAP accountancy is mostly obsolete now except to avoid taxes, delay payments, kiting, and all that old nonsense. There needs to just be an instant bank balance of money per bank. There's no need for batch processing over days or weeks or roll ups.

Any DSA member that gets elected will be sorely disappointed that they don’t have sole control over the budget, as those duties are often distributed between legislators and the treasurers as well. This power distribution really nerfs a ton of socialist policies, in addition to the state or federal government refusing to direct funding to their causes. “Free” healthcare, college, transportation, etc. don’t actually exist because someone somewhere is having to foot the bill (and these types aren’t honest about the steep tax increases needed to make even a fraction of this possible).
