Is the United States in such a crisis that untouched land needs to be spoiled through mining? Or is it just an untapped resource that could be used to make more money?

You can check their telegram channels, they're constantly active. Local news stories also cover their actions more frequently. Removing plates and loading up in trucks doesn't mean they're feds, it means they don't want to be doxed and the cops really, really don't want to do the paperwork involved with arresting hundreds of people for an extremely minor and brief violation. They've actually stopped removing their plates for the most part, and riding in the back of a truck isn't actually illegal in the majority of cases. I highly recommend watching some of the interviews with their leader, Thomas Rousseau. They explain a lot about the organization, and if you want a confrontational interview there's one with PBD. The early ones with Jake Shields are also somewhat skeptical. Most of the others are from people friendly to him but I still recommend them because they'll sometimes get more out of him.
Exactly, it's fine to protect neat stuff, i'm a massive fan of that. We have damn near 100 million acres and 450ish national parks. I think a great deal of it is cool stuff like daniel boone national forest, or mammoth cave national park, and other really neat shit spread out over the US. It's one of the great things Teddy did, setting aside big sects of land around cool stuff that belongs to us as americans.

Yeah, I highly doubt that a white nationalist (or whatever their stated ideology is) group would receive any lenience from the DC police, especially under Biden. If law enforcement is willing to watch a group commit hundreds of instances of a crime without doing anything about it, then that group is likely controlled opposition or useful idiots in my opinion. The state certainly wouldn't treat any group which seriously threatens the status quo with kiddy gloves because it's too much paperwork.
