Maybe he heard the phrase "insane asylum" and got confused.
He doesn't elaborate on what exactly he's fleeing. Apart from the various grotesqueries documented here of course, is he being especially persecuted back home? How bad can it be? It's not like he's a destitute beggar, or worse, a girl.
Also paracetamol overdose isn't a sudden dramatic death, it's a very slow and painful death by liver failure. If he starts chugging Calpol he'll just look silly in court and then be in agony for a few hours.

Yes. A close family member killed himself swallowing a Costco-sized bottle of acetaminophen (what we call paracetamol in these US of A), and he was in ICU 2 days before he died. If one is looking for quick release from this mortal coil, this ain't the way to do it. You won't even get dramatic, news-worthy courtroom collapse. Another reason to deny asylum: being a dummy.

They've known this forever, there's just so many more Indians now.
My dad used to sell siding and basement waterproofing. He used to tell me how his job worked, how he would sell a solution, etc. He told me that, despite what you might think, Jews were not the worst people to sell to. It was Indians.
Jews were a pain in the ass, They would pick apart your numbers, ask reasonable questions about where the margins were at, and maybe shave a few bucks off the top. Hasids were worse.
But Indians were fucking retarded. Indians wished they were Jews. They would fundamentally understand what was necessary to get a job done. It needed to be fixed now and for half the price of the next guy.
Basically, they were trying to get the same Jugaad cheap work they had in their own country, but we have laws and building codes so most of us don't die in preventable accidents.

Here is an interesting observation. Indians are one of the few significant immigrant groups in the US doesn't have distinct historical ties between their home country and the US. Mexico is our neighbor and acquired significant amount of land from them. Central and South Americans are "protected" under the Monroe Doctrine and we get involved with their internal buisness from time to time. Europeans should be obvious. Cubans and Filipinos used to be US territories. We got involved in the civil wars in Korea, Vietnam, Somalia, and a few others I can't remember off the top of my head. We played in a part of the opening up Japan and China as well as fighting/supporting them during WW2. Most of the middle east and parts of Africa due to the GWOT. But what about India?

India's strongest connection to the US is a bioterrorist attack. In 1984, the rajneeshee poisoned people in The Dale with salmonella in an attempt to get people to stay home so they could vote in their shitskin candidate. Even the biggest nations that we're not friendly with right now, that being Russia, China, and Iran, we've had good relations with in the past, and we could someday have them again.
Russia: We were on good terms with the Russian Empire pre-1922, then we fought WW2 together alongside the USSR. Even in the modern day, before Hillary Clinton's bullshit, Russia was seriously on its way to becoming a part of NATO.
China: After the Sino-Soviet Split, the PRC was (nominally) an "ally" of ours against the Soviets, and let's not forget how much fighting and dying the Chinese did against the Japanese Empire during WW2 with generous American aid.
Iran: Before the towelheads came in, the Shah was our boy in the Middle East.
India? India has never been on "our side", ever. At best, India's been "that irrelevant British colony". At worst, like now, India is an active threat to our existence.

Barack Obama: Row in India over former US president's remarks on Muslim rights

Leaders of India's governing party have criticized former US President Barack Obama for his recent remarks on Muslims in the country.
Mr Obama said in an interview last week that India may "start pulling apart" if minority rights weren't protected.
He was replying to a CNN interviewer who called India's leader an "illiberal democrat" and asked how President Biden should engage with such people.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in the US on a state visit at the time.
The three-day visit was marked by a ceremonial welcome to the White House, a lavish state dinner and the signing of several crucial deals. Mr Modi also addressed a joint session of the US Congress.
Mr Obama's remarks, made in an interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour which was aired before the Congress address, were widely reported in India.
Ms Amanpour referred to the "threat to democracy" from so-called "illiberal democrats" before referring to Mr Modi as one.
"How should a president engage with those kinds of leaders, either in the naming of them or in the dealing with them?" she asked.
Mr Obama said it was "complicated", before referring to his own experience dealing with allies who may not have run "ideally democratic governments" but with whom relations had to be maintained for a number of reasons. He added that it was "appropriate" for the US president, when possible, to challenge "trends that are troubling" either in public or private.
"If the president meets with Prime Minister Modi, then the protection of the Muslim minority in a majority Hindu India - that's something worth mentioning. If I had a conversation with Prime Minister Modi, who I know well, part of my argument would be that if you do not protect the rights of ethnic minorities in India, then there is a strong possibility that India at some point starts pulling apart," he said, adding that that would be contrary to India's interests.
Mr Obama shared a warm relationship with Mr Modi while in office.

Indian finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who like Mr Modi is from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), told reporters on Sunday that she was "shocked" by Mr Obama's comments.
"When Mr Modi was campaigning in the US - and by campaigning I mean speaking about India - a former US president was speaking about Indian Muslims."
She went on to say that India wanted good relations with the US but "there too we get remarks about religious tolerance in India".
Ms Sitharaman added that the US had bombed Muslim-majority countries including Syria and Yemen while Mr Obama was in power.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh also reacted to the remarks on Monday, saying that India has never discriminated against people on the basis of their religion.
"People should try to understand India's secular character," he said, adding that people commenting on India's minority rights should "also think about how many Muslim countries they have attacked".
Mr Obama and the US have not publicly commented on these remarks.
In the US, Mr Modi received a warm welcome from business leaders and members of the large and influential India diaspora that includes many Silicon Valley CEOs. However, there were also protests against his government - which is led by the Hindu nationalist BJP - which has been accused of not doing enough to protect minorities from violence and discrimination.
During his visit, 75 Democrats wrote a letter to Mr Biden, urging him to raise human rights issues with Mr Modi. Some of them, including representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, boycotted his address to Congress.
At a joint press conference with Mr Biden, Mr Modi also said that there was "no space for any discrimination" under his government, in response to a question on rights of Muslims and other minorities in India.
On Sunday, Mr Modi tweeted his agreement with Mr Biden's remarks on the friendship between the two countries being among "the most consequential in the world".
The federal ministers' comments came days after a tweet by a BJP chief minister sparked a controversy.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted that there were many "Hussain Obama in India itself" who needed to be taken care of. He was responding to a journalist's sarcastic tweet asking whether a case had been filed against Mr Obama for "hurting sentiments" with his remarks on India.
Mr Obama's full name is Barack Hussein Obama II.
Some opposition politicians accused Mr Sarma of issuing a "veiled threat" to India's Muslim population.
Political scientist Ashutosh Varshney told the Washington Post that Mr Sarma's tweet mentioning Mr Obama's middle name was a way of "twisting" his remarks into ones "made by a Muslim" even though the former president does not practise Islam.
After the controversy, Mr Sarma told the Indian Express newspaper that he stood by his tweet.
