This is especially stupid because these are the same people trying to incentivize public transit usage while severing what would have been a very critical artery for bus routes into Hammersmith. Like, it's not SOLELY private vehicles crossing that bridge. I can understand saying "fuck it, it's too old and expensive to repair", but without a plan to replace that bridge and essentially cutting off a neighbourhood from any kind of vehicular traffic the decision is incompetent at best and actively malicious at worst.that's London for you - the local authorities actively make it as difficult and expensive as possible for anyone to use a motor vehicle for any purpose, whether personal or business
for this reason, if you run a shop and rely on a third-party logistics firm for deliveries, this quickly becomes very expensive, and if you're a tradesman, transport alone is a big business expense; the only way you can operate a viable business in the long run in London is to be a big national or multi-national corporation
