That's why I like a Vance/Rubio ticket. We get both of them running the country for eight years, and the optics are that Rubio is moving closer to the Presidency, which doesn't diminish him for future runs, and then we get a Rubio run and 8 years there. If people really love Rubio and want to Rubio max, then him as VP is the way to go. You get 16 years instead of eight.
I can see Rubio staying SOS at this point. He has amassed as much power as Kinsinger. He's good at his job too. There are benifits to not being president, and that's being able to do things you wouldn't be able to. Being president means you have to take heat constantly. Being a cabinet member means that public backlash is mostly transferred to the president. Its give or take.

I mean, there are precidents for high level cabinet members serving under multiple Presidents. Kissenger and Rumsfeld come to mind. But those guys were basically Deep State jobbers. They weren't politicians and were never running for President (Rumsfeld was a state rep for a few years in his early career but that barely counts).
