Another thing I just thought about in regards to this flavor of dooming: This is counterintuitive to the other doomer argument that many, even some of the more level-headed members of this thread have been using, that Democrats are going to play moderate for the midterms and then push a radical agenda once they get into office like they did in Virginia. Even if they aren't coming out the gates as radical as some of the commies that won their primaries in NYC, they're going to support them, and if they do that, it's going to be hard to paint themselves as 'moderate' when they're surrounded by people who want to abolish the prison system and open the border.
