Definitely late to be party with this but I decided to finally watch the finale after already following the whole series. I enjoyed the first eight episodes and I liked the attempt from Goose (even though the writing was pretty low throughout from start to finish, why would Pomni immediately start freaking out the second she pops into existence if she was knew she was real?). I thought the community was gay with aids and sucked it off too much, looking to much into it but it was fine in a popcorn turn-your-brain-off kind of way. That said, the verdict for the finale is and can only be:

What a load of dogshit. Intensely bad. How did nobody say anything about this?

As others have mentioned, many plot threads and tensions are resolved within the first 8m29s of the film. Oh they're Brain scans? Ok so nothing matters when it comes to escape, the reveal that "there is no escape" is basically a throw away line where Jax (who stopped the first attempt at "escape") punches the wall and goes "fuuuuuuck I know what it means!". Then Jax abstracts off screen and everyone is wailing to themselves and then Zooble also punches the wall as if she's upset about it. Half the cast hated Jax from the first episode, I don't understand why they're trying to force the cast to boohoo over this. It felt like watching a really bad fanfic for someone who wanted to show their thinly veiled fetish for transing characters and maid outfits.

I don't see where this was suppose to be inspired by IHNMAIMS, even aping any aspect of the that story falls through. I know the premise was if AM was "just a silly guy" but there was no flip until episode 8 and then, once again, it gets resolved immediately in a way that required nothing from the characters ultimately. It's just a bit bizarre. The brainscans concept could have worked if it tried to do something alla IHNM. For instance: Caine goes full AM at retard clown and troupe but somehow manage to over come Caine, despite suffering immensely and not leaving unmarked from the fight mentally or physically (digitally?), and discover an "exit" though someone needs to stay behind to hold Caine off. Pomni selflessly takes that initiative and the others go into the light/exit as the world is crumbling around them. Caine, in his last-ish moments and filled with spite and hate, lets Pomni know that they are all brainscans and that the "exits" were really deleting those files. Caine then disappears or dies or w/e and the remnants of the circus stablize but Pomni is left alone, knowning she is a brainscan, having effictively "killed" her friends, and must roam marred forever by the battle with Caine (Caine might still be alive or ends up torturing pomni for her transgressions) etc etc.

Would have at least been a bit more interesting but even in that off-the-top write up, there's the glaring hole of the SOMA style ending kind of leaving everything prior as meaningless and without stakes, abstraction makes no sense or who cares because they aren't real. Goose really wrote himself into a weird corner with how he set things up if this was his ultimate goal and it seems like instead of figuring it out and making it satisfying, he decided to just creatively spurt into a tissue while gooning to a maid oc. Very sad and gay end to a potentially fun popcorn show.

Never addressed. Your guess is as good as mine. She's both alive and dead until Goosworx comments on it directly. Schrodinger's Mom.
I really wouldn't take Gooses word on it considering he made Jax a degenerate trans cuck. His word of god stuff feel like shitposts to fuck with his fanbase. Hypothetically if Goose said yes he killed his mom then Jax's good ending is him getting away with murder and it being ok because his mom was mean to him once. He just pushed her, she is fine.

Again, never addressed. I'm inferring here, but that's on me for trying to infer anything from the HRT induced fever dream of nonsense. Nothing is real unless its directly stated; and even then it may be retconned based on tranny feelings.
Did we watch the same show? It is estabished early that Kinger had an abstracted wife. There was a scene with Kinger's party and his wife. We see Caine lower his abstracted wife into the basement with Caine asking him not to abstract too implying everyone else in his party did and he was all alone till Ragatha shows up.

God forbid the tranny know how to write natural and organic interactions between characters.
The tranny can't write relationships that isn't incredibly toxic and misogynistic or owo yuri shit.

I watched the movie in theaters when it came out. I've had a lot of time to process my thoughts more concretely and succinctly, and reading/watching the opinions of others. I can best sum it up like this - what a complete a total letdown.

Perhaps I'm oblivious, or it's a grave sign of Gooseworx's awful, festishistic writing, but it took me several days and reading the comments on this thread to realize that the plot of the movie was Jax coming out as trans. Frankly, this is a total heel-turn from what I thought his actual character arc was about (that being overcoming the fear of being close to others, embracing his authentic and masculine identity without the irony, having Pomni be a foil for them both to grow as better people by story's end).

The whole scene with Ribbit didn't stick out to me as a coming out story. If anything, as the audience member I thought Ribbit putting the bow on Jax was romantic subtext of some sort. The scene was rife with an uncomfortable sexual tension. A man and a woman who are very close, sitting in her room on her bed, talking about very personal things. Neither crossdressing or being a troon crossed my mind when Jax (not shown of course) revealed a personal secret. I thought this related to him doing something horrible to his family, or some secret about his dad, or even a tacit admission of having romantic/unprocessed feelings. Maybe even a homesickness. But no, literally the worst direction for his character arc was chosen.

To add to everything said prior, I was very let down because I feel like Pomni, as the protagonist, didn't have a satisfying character arc (like the other characters, but this is more offensive since she is who we follow throughout the story). Granted, she had struggled in the beginning of the show. But her personality by the end is solely defined by a savior complex, hyper empathetic medium for the other characters to cry to. And while I enjoyed seeing Jax's mind and thought some of the visual story telling was at least inspirationally interesting, I was really let down that Pomni didn't have some deeper as of then unshared demons of her own. And I was hoping these demons of course not being gay, knowing Gooseworx. Also, SOMA theory is ridiculous and I immediately lost all my care about them knowing that they weren't real. Everything from then on was inconsequential.

I didn't enter the movie hoping for a 10/10, generation defining piece of cinema. I was hoping for a generally good, but mostly memorable and sincere (if not well thought out) conclusion to a series that I liked and thought had a lot of potential going into it. But no, as always, troons ruin everything for everyone. Now a thousand middleschoolers will join JACHx in trooning out.

The movie should've been a story of reality vs. fantasy. A cautionary tale about people trying to cheat death and live in a fake, digital world to escape reality. Go figure Cooper didn't go with that angle, though. His whole identity is built off of choosing fantasy over reality. My disappointment was so great, that I even charted out an entirely seperate plot to the movie to fix the majority of the series' issues. Maybe that's for another post, though. And yes, I still bought the merch to upsell later to nostalgic fans for sweet, sweet [KROMER$$$!!!]

This shit ended and deltarune's tomorrow, all happened within pride month. Troonymedia pipeline got prolific this year.
Sometimes, when I think the media of today's generation is shit, I remember that I only really think that about a lot of things because Trannys co-opt it and turn it into some validation fetish that they will chase you to the ends of the internet in order to scold you should you not make their Tranny fetish the centerpiece of your opinion regarding the material.

When that shit happened to Undertale and Steven Universe, it dimished two IP's that could have been even bigger and more ground breaking than they were if it weren't for the fucking Trannys chasing off everyone with drama, insane crash outs and fetishistic obsessions over the characters to the point of violence. God damn, man, I really do hate Trannys.

Fuck, you're right, I forgot about that.
To be fair to me, goosworx forgot about it too.

This isn't a it was all a dream ending. Them being AI programs in a simulation doesn't make them less real as characters or the story is without stakes. The core issue is Goose's writing is so bad that it didn't get us invested or actually have the characters be characters. Rather than have the cast take the initiative in the story and provide them with concrete desires and wants that they want work towards. Goose made them all incredibly passive throughout the whole series: no escape attemps (Able forcing them doesn't count), no intervention for Jax's behavior, their adventures don't require teamwork outside of the first one. The characters don't need to do anything and actually develop as characters. In order to get a sense of achievement and growth Goose literally had to sit everyone down and show them how cool their IRL versions are and all of their achievements instead. I don't give a shit about the IRL versions, I give a shit about the collection of simulated retards.
Abstraction is a good idea for stakes because it is just permanent file corruption, but it is so poorly explored and given how rare it is and how much work it seemingly is to make it happen that it seems almost consensual, it doesn't really add stakes. They should have someone like Gangle be a hair trigger away from happening which helps explain Ragatha's worried mom attatude towards everyone and actually give her and Zooble's relationship a purpose of pulling her back from the brink. Instead she got tormented by Jax for years and does fine.

I respectfully disagree, because this plays to the idea that AI has heckin' valid feelings. Additionally, the actual horror of being trapped in a digital world you want no part in, that's been forced upon you, disappears and changes the messaging from the digital world acting like a tumor for the real world, to the digital world is necessary to sustain the characters. If anything, it just makes the series tonally and metaphysically about rejecting reality and embracing AI as a secondary kind of life (which it isn't). This reminds me that it got a Little Kitty, Big City collab a while ago to little fanfare.
Since I jump into the indie game hype trains.

I can call with confidence that TADC Collabs are going to be in my hunch:

  1. Meccha Chameleon (Obviously the whole map, room sections and maybe cosmetics for the hunter)
  2. Call of Duty (They fucking confirmed as of recently the god damn Nicolas Cage lmao! so I expect them to drop here as well)
I'm still surprised they haven't considered to release a game with a good game company for start the making of TADC The Game™️, with ARPG genre just like Kingdom Hearts.

That shit may sell for sure.

But glad they're Australians and they hardly think big outside the box so good shit i guess?

It finally clicked what bothers me SO much about the Jax situation.

The strangling thing. Intimate partner violence is a pre-indicator of murder. If he strangles you in any way, he probably will try to finish the job.

People shipping Jax and Pomni, only to be rewarded with a scene where Jax strangles her until she turns blue, are being handed a bigger shit sandwich than they can really realize up front. Jax is basically showing all of the signs of being someone who would kill his partner.

The 750% Statistic

Research has consistently shown that victims who have been strangled by an intimate partner are 750% more likely to be killed by that same partner in the future. This statistic is widely cited by organizations like the Training Institute on Strangulation Prevention and is used by domestic violence experts to assess lethality (the likelihood of a homicide occurring).

Why It Is a Primary Warning Sign

Professionals in the field consider strangulation to be a "bridge" to homicide for several reasons:

  • Absolute Control: Unlike other forms of physical abuse, strangulation is a direct, hands-on attempt to cut off a person's life force. It is the ultimate expression of power, where the abuser controls whether the victim breathes or dies.

  • The "Practice" Effect: Experts often note that when an abuser strangles a partner, they are effectively "practicing" murder. They are learning exactly how much pressure is needed to render a victim unconscious or kill them.

  • Invisible Lethality: Strangulation can be fatal even without leaving external marks. It can cause internal damage—such as carotid artery dissection, blood clots, or respiratory complications—that may result in death days or even weeks after the incident. Because many people believe they are "fine" if there is no bruising, the severity of the act is often dangerously underestimated.

  • Escalation: Data indicates that strangulation is rarely the first act of violence in a relationship; it typically occurs when an abuser feels they are losing control and decides to escalate to the most severe form of domestic violence.

I fully agree but I think you misunderstand my point. I don’t have an issue with them not being “real” or actually trapped within the circus. My point was that the way Goose structured the story and how they choose to develop the cast (or really the lack there of) painted Goose into a corner with a SOMA/Simulation route because it erases everything prior for a lot of the reasons you listed: they’re too passive. And, the actual horror or tension derived from being a simulation in a nightmare digital world isn’t there or is wiped with how it was written.

We can’t assess the series for what it could have potentially been or all the better writing routes that were sitting right there, we must take it for what it is: a story with an initially good premise that choose to focus more on therapy talk than anything it was building up. I like your idea with Gangle a lot, it could have added a bunch but that goes with the assumption the “proper” TADC was there and deliberately sabotaged rather than just never existing. Which I believe comes from the premise being abandoned after the first episode. There are plenty of variations of this story where them actually being simulation still made them characters and provided stakes, but the one we got I think erases all of that.

Like when abstraction is hinted at being reversible. Abstraction would 100% work as you said as stakes for simulated conciousness as it would still be a “death”, real to them even if that concept would be an abstraction (no pun intended) to us from the outside. But when you can just “hug it out” and not be a bitch and come back then who cares. Abstraction wouldn’t be a death so it becomes a retard timeout when it is built up as a terrible end throughout the series.

Abstraction is a good idea for stakes because it is just permanent file corruption, but it is so poorly explored and given how rare it is and how much work it seemingly is to make it happen that it seems almost consensual, it doesn't really add stakes
My point exactly. It gets undermined or the entire contextualization is changed last second where it invalidates prior stakes and a lot of what would make a brain scan writing route work.
