There's evidence that humans were using animal husbandry, complex tools and building foundations for settlements for large numbers of people well beyond 4000 years ago, sometimes evidence even leading to 8-10,000 years old. modern recorded history only goes back to like 4000 bc and past that they didnt have a written language that survived. and thats probably true. I think people would be surprised at how civilized humans were 50,000 years ago using stone tools, probably more like plains indians than cavemen, and organized on a large scale. but without a written language its difficult to organize on timescales longer than a human lifetime
