Cannabis and its health impacts - No stoner bros, smoking 50 joints a day will not cure your non-existant cancer.
Over the last few months I've seen more and more articles coming out about the dangers of cannabis use. This made me realize just how much bullshit information is floating around this little green herb. Therefore I have decided to start this thread to help dispel some of the myths, rumors and blatant lies surrounding the wacki tobaci so that people may make better informed choices about their preferred narcotic of choice or so they can scientifically laugh at stoners for being literal dumbfucks. Let's start with the biggest lie of all.
What is Cannabis
Cannabis is plant originally found in the Kush regions (modern day India and Pakistan) of South East Asia, which is where the slang term for weed "Kush" comes from. The psycho active properties of cannabis are found in the trichomes which are the little white crystals (the actual purpose of these are to catch the male pollen so the female can produce seeds.) The orginal cannabis plants would have been indicia strains however as it began to spread two new strains would emerge. In the East (Thailand, China, Japan) it would adapt into Sativa (due to the warmer and dryer climate) and in the frozen wastelands of the north (Russia, Siberia) it would evolve into Ruderalis (autoflowering genetics). It is important to note this as these are the only 3 strains of cannabis that are scientifically identifiable although there is debate as to whether ruderalis is a sub-strain of sativa. Secondly these definitions only apply to the structure of the plant and has no impact on the psycho active properties of the bud. This means that the old stoner's tale about sativa being uplifting and enegetic and indicia being calming and relaxing is complete and utter horseshit. Below is the only real difference. In reality, the age of the trichromes determines the effects. Cloudy white is energizing and uplifting and amber is calming and relaxing.
So now that you know the most common cannabis "fact" is a straight up lie, let us look at all the other ways drug dealers have been lying to you. (I know, shocking that they would do such a thing)
Genetics and sub-strains (seeds)
Genetics and sub-strains are the biggest scam. Lying to your customer about what they are smoking is the cannabis industry's bread and butter. Open any seed bank website or go to any dispensary and you will be met with an overwhelming clusterfuck of a million different sub-strains with stupid names all promising to fix your life and increase your dick size by 4 inches but none of them actually explaining how. This is done by design because once you pull back the curtains and actually look into all these sub-strains you quickly realize that 99% of them are all identical. There are only so many hybrid variations that you derive from the 3 actual strains and modern breeding has devolved into nothing but recreating existing strains so they can rename it and market it as the breeder's own. For example there is a breeding company called Fast Bud that claims to sell Chemdawg seeds but in reality it is just Sour Diesel crossed with OG Kush when the original Chemdawg was two Thai and Nepelese landraces being crossed together. So not only are people being lied to about what sativa and indicia actually is but the chances are they are also lying to you about what sub-strain you are actually smoking.
Now let's get into the really really insidious stuff.
Quality of modern cannabis
There is a myth that modern cannabis is more potent and of better quality of the weed from yesteryear. That is another lie. The potency of cannabis has remained unchanged for thousands of years. The only thing that has change is due to cannabis becoming legalized throughout the world, people are no longer scared of showing off their rare genetics out of fear of being raided and losing them. When the American breeder Nirvana got busted in the 90s, he sold out every grower he had ever dealt with and hundreds of old school cannabis strains were lost forever as a result of the raids. Secondly modern growing techinques have not improved the quality of cannabis and in fact in many cases modern growing negatively impacts the quality. As I stated before the quality of your high is dependant of the quality of trichromes, however cannabis is sold based on the weight of the bud. Naturally this incentivizes growers to maximise their yields, problem is a cannabis plant can only produce so many trichromes and the larger your yield the more spread out they will become. So while you think you are smoking premium, deluxe edition, super duper indoor, you are actually smoking P.O,W dirt weed because the trichrome count is so shit. Secondly when a sub-strain is advertised as 25% or 30% THC, that figure relates to the percentage of cannabinoids (of which there are 100s of different ones) is made up of THC. It does indicate that the gram of bud you are smoking is 30% THC. IE 1g of bud at 30% THC does not equal 300mg of THC found on the flower. Good potent cannabis needs to look like this.
So what happens when people think they are smoking the best possible weed but not getting a buzz? Well....
Vapes and pure THC
Pure THC products should not exist, Period. There is no argument, discussion or excuse to justify this crap existing. Pure THC like pure alcohol is toxic and should not be consumed. THC is chemical compound, it does not change. It does not matter where the THC is extracted from, the chemical formula will be identical. It does not matter what sub-strain the seller claims the THC was extracted from. You could test 100 different THC products and they will all have this exact formula.
This obsession with THC being the alpha and omega cannabinoid is what has lead to all these well known problems with cannabis becoming more and more common. What is worse are these products are specifically designed to be abused by the user. Firstly vapes in general are designed to encourage habit of motion. People will sit sucking on those things all day not even aware they are doing it because of how they have been trained to just bring it to their mouths for that sweet release of dopamine. Now take that and replace the nicotine with 99% THC and you have a rise in psychosis and cannabis hyperemesis syndrome being recognized. CHS is when you consume so much cannabis your body can no longer process it and your entire digestive system shuts down and you are left in agonizing pain until you are able to flush it all out. You are also left unable to consume cannabis ever again because the minute you do the symptoms come right back. Secondly these vapes are non-combustible Combustion plays a big part in that initial psychoactive hit. The energy from the heat allows the cannaboids to travel much faster through you bloodstream so you get those 15 minutes of euphoria after the first hit. Vapes don't have that, so people take multiple hits in quick succession to try and achieve that feeling. If you see a friend sucking on a THC vape, be a good mate and smack that shit out of his mouth else he may end up having horse strokes like Mersh.
So now you might be wondering
Are they any actual health benefits to cannabis?
The correct answer to this is kinda. It has scientifically proven that cannabis does help with pain relief for things such as arthritis, inflation and migraines. It has also been proven to help alleviate the negative side effects from kemo most notably the nausea which allows the patient to eat food and keep their strength, It does not however cure cancer. The biggest problem facing medical cannabis is that the concept is still very much in its infancy. The medical properties from cannabis come from a combination of all cannabinoids found within the trichrome (which is why pure THC has no medical uses). Unfortunitly the overwhelming majority of cannabinoids are still unknown to science and we are still learning about the full effects of the cannabinoids we do know about so we are nowhere near the point where this stuff can safely be prescribe to patients to treat medical issues. Most people who use medical cannabis only do so because there is no better alternative. However it does appear that if there is a future for medical cannabis it lies in very low doses of solvent free extracted cannabinoids know as rosin. It is made by using just heat and pressure to extract the cannabinoids straight from the trichromes.

I hope this presentation has been educational and will get at least someone to have a good look at what they are actually pumping into their bodies.
For all the talk stoners make about pot being this harmless little leaf they use for their joint pain, that it isn't addictive and they need it to function, whatever, you'd think I'd have met more stoners who have their lives together. Instead it's like the vast majority of stoners NEED it and can't go a day without smoking, will spend the last of their money on it even when they're living paycheck to paycheck, make it their whole damn personality, live in a dirty stank-ass hovel they can't even recognize or smell anymore, and the second they sit down or lay back past 90 degrees they fall asleep.
And as a non-smoking friend I feel like I can't point out the obvious problems there 'cause then oh, what do I know, I'm little miss goody two shoes, did I hear at the church that the "devil's lettuce" was icky-wicky? Am I going to tell my mommy? Weh weh weh? Like goddamn I don't need to have been in the trenches to acknowledge your life is fucked. Makes me wonder if those PSAs with the flat people were onto something:
I used to smoke weed and THC vapes back in the day. Believe alot of it is over exaggeration what happens with prolonged weed use.
You can just quit it cold turkey Its very easy to.
You literally cannot get addicted to weed or THC, you wont get any withdrawal. Is it a gateway drug, yeah probably for retarded people who were going the wrong path in life anyway.
OP, if your goal is to dispel unsubstantiated myths, rumors and lies about cannabis, why didn't you cite even a single source in your "presentation" (equally unsubstantiated assertions)? What makes your post more credible than anything else we have ever read about the subject?

Okay serious talk, I have a family member with inflammatory arthritis who has the medical chewables for pain but she told me the doctors warned her away from smoking it and overuse specifically because it can have contradictory effects on inflammation if abused. Before this I know they had her on opioids but she seems to do better on the weed.
Nothing wrong with a little bit of doobage.
Though if you're in your 20s or older and are still a stoner or if your daily breakfast includes a bong hit I'm gonna see you as a loser.
I think a lot of the "gateway" drug horrors are more of a result of when someone started doing them rather than what they started doing.
I'd argue someone is a lot more likely to become a burnout/move on to something harder if they start smoking in highschool vs in college, the reason being the people someone would be smoking with in highschool are probably more likely to get into harder shit than someone who'd managed to keep it together until college.
I think it's a company you keep type situation.
From my own experience, if I wanted to go get weed when I was a teen I'd bare minimum have to hit up one of the random burn outs I knew, or more likely I'd have to message the drug dealer to get some, the real question being how I as a 16 y/o ended up having 30 y/o niggers number in my phone.
Aside from that, a lot of situations would just be me being around some random piece of shit who happened to have weed.
As an adult though all I need to do is go to the store and buy some.
So make of that what you will.

I guess I am the proof that weed makes you stupid.
I wouldn't recommend edibles for long term pain relief even CBD ones. Firstly most edibles are however many mgs of Distillate THC and thus can cause the same health problems as the vapes but more import is that due to the Cytochrome enzymes in your liver, 70-75% of of the CBD you orally consume will be broken down before it reaches your blood stream making it useless. There is also a chance of possessing a rare genetic disorder where the Cytochrome also breaks down 70-75% of all orally consumed THC. I have this disorder, I can take 1 000mg and I'd get slightly drowsy.
I recomonded a topical cream if the arthritis is in a specific area or a oil or tinticure if affecting a large part of their body. You will want something that is predominately CBD but still contains small amounts of other cannabinoids in order to properly activate the cannaboid receptors (your endocannabinoid system/ECS) in your body. Unlike THC and other psychoactive cannabinoid CBD doesn't directly bind itself to your ECS but rather helps your body use your own internal cannabinoid sytem more efficiently. Therefore you are unable to build a tolerance for it. The biggest problem is finding a product that actually performs as advertised in the all the bullshit products, All I can advise you in that regards is do as much research as possible, talk to as many experts as possible and for the love of God test everything yourself (a take it to the lab test not a take it yourself test) before you you let your relative touch it,
Nearly a decade ago my Grandmother was diagnosed with brain cancer. As she didn't want to put herself throw kemo at 80 years old she instead became obsessed with all these homopathic cannabis remedies. She was taking all sorts of funny things in capsules and syringes. A few months after her diagnosis, she suddenly detoriated and she passed away. When we were clearing out her fridge we found all this crap and decided to take it to get tested. What we found shocked and disgusted us. Absulotely nothing inside these "substances" was what was advertised, most of it was garbage and some of it was actively harming her. I don't know if that crap she was taking robbed me of a few more months with my grandmother, I will never know. All I know is there is a chance I might have had those few extra months had I done my due dilligence and check this stuff before she took it, That has led me on a near decade long research journey to learn as much about cannabis as I possibly can from growing, to breeding, to extracting. I have done it all. I have even observed CHS in person when I was at the ER and there was some stoner there suffering from it. It looks fucking horrible. He went into complete denial when he was told he couldn't smoke again. SPOILER]
