"Marching through Georgia" is a good song, but it's annoying that it was co-opted by redditors. Shermanposter redditors ruined online civil war discourse.

To the thread topic, if we are talking specifically Civil War songs, I always felt like the Confederates generally had better music, "Bonnie Blue Flag" and "Southern Soldier" are both good marching songs. "Dixie" is very catchy, but that wasn't strictly a war song, For the Union, the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" is pretty good, I have thought for awhile that it would make a better American anthem than the Star-Spangled Banner.

If we are talking war songs in general, the Prussian battle marches are S-tier, and British songs like "Men of Harlech" or "The British Grenadiers" are good too.

American: Battle cry of freedom (both northern and southern versions),
