Two 8-month-old pit bulls that were loose in Nanaimo attacked several children, severely injuring at least one. Other people that came to aid the children were also injured.

The children were playing in a yard at the house of one of their friends. The dogs were from somewhere else in the neighborhood and had been cited for being at large previously.

One of the owners of the dogs came and got the dogs but did not stick around. The news interviewed the other owner, a Dangerhair that looked to be in her late 40s or early 50s. While she was devastated at what her dogs had done, she said to the reporter, "People are saying, look at this from the prospective of a parent, well, these dogs are my kids, too," and then she broke down crying.

It was later reported both dogs were euthanized, as there have been other incidents prior to this one, and due to the severity of the injuries the one particular child sustained.

To the dangerhair dog owner I would have to say, "If these dogs were your KIDS, you did a lousy job of raising them. Thank heavens you didn't spawn any of your own."

Overzealous state bureaucrats in the Fish and Game Comission will come after you for that too.
In a lot of jurisdictions it's entirely legal to treat coyotes as vermin and just kill them, other than exceptions like inside city limits (because of firearms laws) and nature preserves. Farmers often have a blanket exemption.

Found a crazy one in France.

Christophe Ellul was sentenced Thursday June 11 to a four year suspended prison sentence for manslaughter concerning his partner Elisa Pilarski, killed in 2019 by bites attributed to Curtis, Mr. Ellul's pit bull, whom the court ordered to be euthanized. Pointing out that Mr. Ellul, 51, is responsible for training Curtis until he is "conditioned for attack" and that dog is "out of control", the court followed the requisitions made by the prosecution during the trial in March.

On November 16, 2019, Christophe Ellul, 51, discovered the lifeless body of his 29-year-old partner with around fifty serious dog bites, in a forest southwest of Soissons. Elisa Pilarski went for a walk there with one of her partner's dogs, Curtis, an American Pitbull Terrier. A few minutes before her death, she had called her companion for help.

Christophe Ellul has long doubted Curtis' responsibility, instead blaming hunting dogs, present, according to him, around the victim's body upon his arrival. A version ultimately ruled out by the instruction and the various analyses, notably DNA, all converging on Curtis alone. The pending fate of Curtis, since the events locked in a kennel, has also sparked strong reactions from several animal rights associations. Several petitions calling for "grace" were launched on the change.org and mesopinions.com sites following the prosecution's requisitions in March. They total more than 100,000 signatures this week.

Now aged 8 and a half, Curtis currently lives in a 4 square meter box with access to a 6 square meter courtyard in a kennel in Haute-Garonne. A civil party to the trial, the animal protection association Les Amis de Sam, believing that he could be re-educated and thus stop being dangerous, offered to welcome him and prevent him from being euthanized.

There is an English version of the Wikipedia article which is just loaded with additional horrifying details. She was 6 months pregnant, the court spent low six figures on the dog DNA tests mentioned in the article, and more. Four years suspended sentence is nothing for training a killer dog on purpose which then goes on to kill someone, what the fuck France.

Had a scare not too long ago. My neighbor owns a shitbull and I have two cats. Now normally this dog is in the other side of the fence that is thankfully too tall for him to jump over, but he gets excited whenever he knows my cats are out. Was tending my garden while my cat was "helping" me (aka laying in the garden) and hear a noise and turn to see this shitbull in my backyard. Somehow my neighbor opened his gate and the thing ran out, went to the complete other side of my house, and through my gate that was partially opened and was trying to b-line towards my cat. THANKFULLY the owner, who is a nigger, was able to tard wrangle him but holy fuck did it make my heart skip a beat. I was ready to defend my cat with every fiber of my being because there is zero way I'd let this thing live if it got a hold of my little buddy. I really need to keep my cats inside but I'm weak willed and they always beg to go out.

I've said it before but I'll say it again, but my area has a ton of shitbulls, and a neighbor of mine told me that another neighbor's little dog got mauled by one not long ago. I truly cannot comprehend why people insist on keeping these fucking things. The biggest thing I notice to is that almost NONE of them are neutered.

None of them are neutered because both women and men see them as some kind of pseudo sexual extensions of themselves.

I thought just men were the ones who refused to neuter their shitbulls, but women do it too.

Virtually all other breed owners realize it’s the responsible thing to do, except for shitbull owners.

It doesn’t matter how many free spay and neuter clinics are held in their areas, “you can’t take his manhood!!”.

They could also be dumb, when my family was considering getting a dog, one of them wanted a pitbull. I mentioned neutering and he said “That sounds cruel… How would he piss?” And I just stared like “… You know they cut off the balls, not the phallus?” And he looked legitimately shocked lmao.

But I think a lot of it is like tough guy shit, I mean that’s the type of guy to just casually buy a pitbull, someone who fancies themselves as a “tough guy”.

I have been told many times in different ways by dog owners (mostly men) that they just wanted their dog to “get his nut” before neutering them when discussing spaying and neutering. So I believe both of these posters.

I don’t think you should kill any animal just for fun, but DAMN the coyote thing is out of control in major urban areas. They eat cats and small dogs, menace families with children, etc.

Why can’t we just have nice things without annoying do gooders making the world unnecessarily dangerous and stupid :(

Ackshually canine rabies has been exterminated in the US since the 2000s. Sometimes a rabid dog wanders over from Mexico but that's about the only cases of canine rabies nowdays (there is still bat rabies). Coyotes do carry other nasty things though, like parasites.
It absolutely has not unless you are talking about dog to dog cases but who cares? Rabies is rabies and there is no difference in the virus. There is about 60 to 70 cases a year of domestic dog testing positive for rabies. Usually its from a bat, fox, skunk, or raccoon, but only 2 days ago a coyote tested positive for rabies in North Carolina. A couple adopted a rabid dog from a rescue earlier this month and are now suing. Rabies was never that common among coyotes but its been popping up more lately for whatever reason in Southern states.

Yeah I am talking about dog-to-dog rabies. It's a slightly different virus than the rabies found in the other species you listed. Obviously dogs/coyotes can still be infected with it but it originally comes from one of the other species. So it's less likely they have it than if canine rabies was still around.

The problem with coyotes is that conventional culling methods don’t work. When a pack member doesn’t report back during their nightly roll calls the females go into heat and start breeding. It’s called “compensatory reproduction”.

Pack of Coyotes likely ate the shitbull that helped kill my cat so I'm thankful for them. No trace of him found. Went missing somehow. Area is known for Coyotes. I went on record to insist I put both shitbulls down so I look suspicious but it was God's divine retribution cause I forgave the dumb shitbull knowing the other one is the one who killed my cat, but they both attacked him so.

Thanks Coyotes/God. Eye for an eye.

Unless dogs are catching it from getting boned by infected coyotes.

There have actually been studies on this and the effect comes nowhere close to making culling “not work”. Coyotes aren’t a mythical hydra, they’re just annoying trash canines.

Your highlighted section is talking about trapping not firearms hunting. If you wanna do predator calling be my guest - it can be a blast. Just don’t expect to be doing all that much.

There’s a reason wolves have been almost completely eradicated from the continental US whereas we’ve never even gotten close to yotes.

If you’re not protecting livestock and pets they’re essentially harmless.
