FRISCO, Texas — Karmelo Anthony, the teen accused of fatally stabbing another teen, Austin Metcalf, at a Frisco track meet, has been indicted on a murder charge, officials said.

A grand jury indicted Anthony on Tuesday, according to the Collin County District Attorney's Office. A murder charge is punishable by 5-99 years or life in prison.

Anthony, a 17-year-old former student of Frisco Centennial High School, was arrested and charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of Frisco Memorial High School student athlete Austin Metcalf in April at a track meet in Frisco ISD's Kuykendall Stadium. He was released from jail later that month after his bond was reduced from $1 million to $250,000.

Anthony has claimed self defense in the case, which garnered national attention, heightening racial tensions and raising security concerns among everyone connected to the case, including both families and Judge Angela Tucker, who is presiding over the case.

"We know this case has struck a deep nerve — here in Collin County and beyond," Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis said in a statement Tuesday. "That’s understandable. When something like this happens at a school event, it shakes people to the core. But the justice system works best when it moves with steadiness and with principle. That’s what we’re committed to. And that’s exactly what this case deserves."

Anthony's attorney, Mike Howard, called Tuesday's indictment "an expected and routine step in the legal process."

"Karmelo and his family are confident in the justice system and the people of Collin County to be fair and impartial," Howard said. "Of course, Karmelo looks forward to his day in court. It's only in a trial that a jury will hear the full story, one that includes critical facts and context that the grand jury simply didn't get to hear."

Howard again raised Anthony's self defense claim in his statement Tuesday.

"We expect that when the full story is heard, the prosecution will not be able to rule out the reasonable doubt that Karmelo Anthony may have acted in self defense," Howard said. "Self defense is a fundamental right guaranteed every American."

Metcalf's father, Jeff Metcalf, told WFAA in a statement that he's "pleased that we are moving forward."

“With the first degree murder indictment, it now goes into the court system," Jeff Metcalf said. "I fully believe that justice will be served for Austin Metcalf. I look forward to the forthcoming trial. But it will never bring my son back.“

Under his bond conditions, Anthony is required to wear an ankle monitor and ask permission to leave his home. If Anthony violates any conditions of his bond, he will have to return to jail. He graduated and received his high school diploma in May, but did not attend the ceremony, WFAA previously reported.

Anthony allegedly confessed to the stabbing immediately after he was arrested, claiming he was defending himself from Metcalf, officials said, as WFAA previously reported.

A witness reportedly told police that Metcalf told Anthony he had to move out from under the Memorial High School tent. Anthony responded by opening his bag and reaching inside, WFAA previously reported.

"Touch me and see what happens," Anthony told Metcalf, according to a witness.

Metcalf reportedly then touched Anthony, the witness told a responding officer, and Anthony told Metcalf to punch him and see what would happen. Soon afterward, the witness said, Metcalf reportedly grabbed Anthony to tell him to move. At which point, the affidavit continues, Anthony reportedly pulled out what the witness recalled as a black knife and stabbed Metcalf once in the chest before running away.

The deep tension sparked by the incident has raised concerns that the case may be tried outside of Collin County. Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis told WFAA that the judge will make that decision at the time of trial.

It’s really interesting how fast TDCJ brought Karmelo in. Never seen that happen before. Usually, a convicted felon waits weeks in County Jail to “catch chain” to TDCJ and once they get picked up they’re out of contact for at least a couple weeks as they’re transported to an intake facility, then after weeks or months there they’re out of pocket another few weeks as they’re transported to a transfer unit where they stay weeks or months before again being transferred to their new home for a while and then after months or years they start the transfer process all over again. Anyway, while the transfer process is going on you’re pretty much out of pocket and when you’re first picked up from County it’s a few weeks before you show up on TDCJ’s
Inmate Locator yet in Karmelo’s case he’s already entered into TDCJ’s system, shows up as currently incarcerated in Pack 1. Pack 1 isn’t an intake unit, and he showed up there a couple days ago, so it’s just really strange how he got convicted on a Tuesday, picked up on a Wednesday, and by Thursday he shows up on the Inmate locator at Pack 1.

I get that Collin County wanted him out of their hands ASAP after the sentencing but it lools like TDCJ bent over backwards to get Karmelo processed in and to his new home. With that kind of treatment I have to wonder if he isn’t already in PC because it sure looks like he’s getting extra attention from TDCJ Brass
According to Wikipedia that particular prison is an administrative segregation unit. They probably put his ass on the Texas version of “Statewide Protective Concerns” which wouldn’t surprise me given his high profile.

Then fuck off back to Mother Africa. If the US is so horrible, it's system so racist, and everyone is against the poor widdle Pickaninnies, then renounce your citizenship and leave.

Oh, and if literally everyone hates you, then the problem isn't everyone else. The problem is YOU. America doesn't have a race problem. America has a problem RACE.
The Africans don't like them either.

who decided the solution was to make it as hard as possible for everyone in the state to own a firearm.

Dumb as fuck when you consider that criminals don’t care about the law … that’s why they’re criminals. So they’ll get guns anyway and then shoot you while you can’t defend yourself.

If you don’t like guns don’t get guns.

I don’t think it’s correlated with low IQ in white people pre disease manifestation.
White people are just extremely unlikely to have low enough IQs to hit the range while normal. Blacks are not. Low IQ and schizophrenia are strongly correlated.
I don’t think it’s correlated with low IQ in white people pre disease manifestation. I tried to find data or studies on this, but of course I can’t.
"I have no data or studies to validate what I'm saying, but here's why I think you're wrong."

This would explain how eg in Africa most people with schizophrenia regard their delusions as positive, while schizophrenia in the west is usually considered traumatic. Two different illnesses.

Someone's native culture has a massive impact on the kind of delusions and hallucinations they’re going to experience. You’ll probably never have a Tibetan Buddhist experience Jerusalem Syndrome.

Western Christians no matter how secularized they are spend their whole lives hearing stories about angels and demons. It makes perfect sense that some animist wouldn’t have the same problems.

Looks like Austin Metcalf's father has scared that crackhead nigger charlston white and he has seen the light of White Jesus and no longer supports the Anthony family, called his father a bitch, said he respects austins dad for going off, and would rather stand behind him than a weak nigga like carmelo's father.

Edit: After listening back he also admits that he and the Anthony family were able to PRIVATELY raise ONE MILLION DOLLARS for his defense.

Timestamped from some random nogs video i cant seem to find the og on the toobz.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=j7MnP44FIfc:971

Either he's getting sued by Metcalf or Sarah, or his check didn't clear, or if you believe him he believes the Anthony family is ONLY using this for fundraising. If they were able to also pull off anot

I saw rumors, probably false, that the AB(T) put a bounty on him. If that were the case it'd be to get him into a prison where he wouldn't get shanked. Otherwise, it may be that this case generated so much attention and tension that they're trying to move the problem as quickly as possible. He's not being treated like an average criminal because he's not (after all the public attention.) I hope the speed in which he was processed won't give a reason to drag us through a retrial. The Anthony family has already ditched their old attorneys and are now using a specialized appeals lawyer, some Phillipino guy.

Suicidal? Others are a danger to him? Keep him away from bad influences?

Wallace Pack Unit? I was convinced that it was going to be Alfred Hughes a few posts up, if anything because it's closer to Frisco. For those keeping track at home, Gatesville, Texas is about two and a half hours from Frisco (north Dallas area), but Pack Unit south of Navasota is about 3 and a half hours assuming you stick to the two-way highways that Google wants you on, and unlike Gatesville there's no rest area for families that's outside of the secure area.

Also there's no way that the family is going to make a seven hour round trip to visit their piece of shit son, even if there are TWO Buc-ee's along the way.

I’ve seen inmates get shipped to the other side of the state from their hometown. TDCJ really doesn’t give a fuck.

My guess is a little bit of all 3. Getting him out of Collin County quick disperses any crowds that might hang around post-sentencing. Knowing that any assault on him is going to make the national news, AdSeg is the safest place for him, even though it’s HARD time. 23-7 lockdown in a solitary cell with 1 hour out per day in a chainlink box just big enough to stand and move around in. Even in PC he’s likely to be extorted by fellow inmates. Also, going from waking up in your million-dollar home one morning, to going in the courtroom to get found guilty and sentenced to 35 years for murder, and then immediately catch chain to TDCJ where they’ve got your head shaved and your 1st uniform on all within 24 hours would be hard on anyone, but on a 19 year old spoiled suburban kid who surely believed he was going to walk out of that courtroom free has to be a massive mind-fuck.

TDCJ has 5 or so regions, if memory serves. The county you chain out of determines your TDCJ district. The north and south parts of east Texas are in the same district. I spent time in the eastern district and was mostly surrounded by guys from D/FW and Houston.

Putting him in PC if anything makes him more likely to get bad touched.
Yeah, or like I said, extorted, or both. PC is full of chomos plus gang dropouts and bad cops. If he’s locked down in AdSeg as long as the guards don’t treat him like Epstein he’s as safe as you can be in there though absolutely miserable.

This is a chicken or the egg scenario. Secular people without any understanding of Christianity have frequently reported seeing biblically accurate angels in their DMT trips. Plenty of reports of Egyptian, Hindu, and Buddhist deities, too.

They’ll bounce you wherever they please based on security and classification reasons though.

that the AB(T) put a bounty on him

If the ABT wanted him they wouldn’t be broadcasting it like this.

If they ad seg him it’s a matter of when not if he tries to an hero and spends some time in whatever they call Jester IV now.

I don’t know if “Security Detention” means PC or AdSeg but I’ll bet it’s one or the other or something very much like those.

They’re set up for CPAP and medical units and those mean they’ve got at least some seg cells.
