As a former Jim watcher (pre-politics), he has always had an odd deference to certain people. One he was wise enough to keep internalized, but still manifested through what he chose to conveniently ignore. Ralph would have probably gone the same way if he didn't lash out. The problem with Nick bringing a defamation case against Ralph based on an accusation that Nick had sex with Scarlett is that Nick does not have a good reputation or a reputation for fidelity within his marriage. I mean a poly swinger going to court claiming that he was damaged by an accusation that he was not faithful to his wife during his marriage just isn't going to work.
