What’s everyone’s theory on why boomers are like this.

What Ages Are Most Vulnerable?

Highest vulnerability: roughly birth to age 6

Executive function is largely associated with the prefrontal cortex—the part of the brain involved in:
  • Planning ahead
  • Delaying gratification
  • Organizing tasks
  • Working memory
  • Self-monitoring
  • Cognitive flexibility
  • Sustaining attention
Lead exposure has repeatedly been linked to deficits in these areas. Systematic reviews find associations between childhood lead exposure and poorer working memory, attention, and cognitive flexibility.
Studies have found links between childhood lead exposure and:
  • Aggression
  • Conduct problems
  • Risk-taking
  • Delinquency
  • Criminal behavior later in life

So I found this video on instagram, and I find it telling on current political soup, specifically left leaning violence/soupyness.

1. shout out the top comment for getting it right

We have been, and will continue to balkanize, People from ~30 minutes away hate each other purely due to what areacode they live in. This is especially apparent near cities that have rural land near them (like in the midwest), Where bluecel city folk see themselves as "surrounded' by redcel Nazis (regular people who they only agree on 95% of things, not 100% like the other bluecels).
No one likes to mention it either but I feel like we are also going to see "south Africanization" as companies/courts have been favoring minority groups, We also already see this in wealthy areas but private and semi private police forces hired as security, which used to be common just for the highest class neighborhoods now becoming more common in middle income areas. (Lee Kuan Yew had to get rid of jury trials because they were completely racially biased, US jury trials also see racial bias in a similar war)

2. "We need a heavy nuremburg style framework for holding these people accountable"
From 2016 back to when these laws were put on the books, Enforcing immigration policy was completely uncontroversial.
Protecting domestic labor was a bipartisan issue. You can go find clips of every modern politician who was around back then to hear them talk about how disastrous mass immigration is.
Now anybody in the +50% that voted for Trump needs to go through a trial.
lets forget that the current border czar is the same as obama, and burnie sanders said" Open borders? That's a Koch brothers proposal ", going on to say it would make everyone poorer? do you think he wants them to go through a trial as well? (no)

3. Notice the Doomerist push towards violence
To the online radical leftist, You were coopted by Hillary in 2016, then push further left by people like AOC and "the squad", and then during the Biden presidency there was no tapping the breaks.
We literally had a guy who couldn't stop stealing women's clothes in a pretty powerful position at the office of nuclear energy.

(i mostly mention this because it's funny)
Now, After a huge election loss in 2024, most democrats have completely tossed any progressive talking points after seeing how bad they played on a national stage. Think Kamala and her remarks on transitioning minors and prisoners. while originally stating that she supported both, during the debate she walked back and said she would "follow the law" , what the fuck does that even mean? What laws do we have on trooning out prisoners?
Back to the point though, all of these progressive "ideals" caused a slaughter in swing states because while most Americans are retarded, they don't like people more retarded than them in office.
Progressives were leading democrats post obama in the trump resistance, and they have completely been dropped because actual swing voters got left behind .
Now Democrats are having to completely rewrite what they've been doing for the past decade and that involves ignoring the part of the party that's been at the forefront of democrats.
I'm sure this leads to a feeling of helplessness as you see even you the politicians you've staked your reputation on drop you entirely (think zohran meeting with trump, and working with ICE), pushing the even the slightest radical element further toward fantasizing about violence as the only remaining outlet. It kind of is their only remaining outlet, because no one likes their ideas.

I guess we'll see if "left wing violence" continues through the midterms, and how the midterms turn out. I was not expecting this much political violence though.

This was a ramble post but I've been thinking about how much it must suck right now to be a post obama resistlib -> into a covid 3x mask lib -> into a biden/kamala lib (thinking you won and trump is gone forever) -> Trump 2 electric boogaloo -> <any guesses as to what is going to happen here?>

DC Court of Appeals rules that Trump can't fire soldiers for being transgender, but can forbid them to join the army for being transgender
Hm. Seems simple enough. Commence Operation Fire The Trannies! We're going to airdrop tranny soldiers, no parachutes of course, onto Iranian blockade vessels to take them out!

"Agent" is just a fancy word for "background task". Instead of the AI giving you an immediate answer, it can launch a program in the background and return you its results later.

Another term you may have heard is Model Context Protocol (MCP) which is the AI term for API (Application Programming Interface).

AI hypemen love to create new names for existing things.
That's a bit of an oversimplification. Even in hype describing modern AI, "agentic" describes systems that can perform requests automatically, whether on a schedule or in response to an external event.

The older meaning of agency in AI that predates the LLM is that the agent has goal directed behavior and autonomous operation. Allowing an LLM based system to operate independently of user input is a modest step in the direction of autonomy. Some LLM-based AI systems do arguably have goal directed behavior, especially those that write explicit goals and compare their own progress to them. However, running a chatbot on a schedule doesn't give you much.

The bigger problem is that most of the actual agents that have been built with modern AI (actual agents in that they are capable of responding to their environment without prompting and have ways of modifying their environment other than simply replying with text) are really bad. You don't want an autonomous system that is easily confused, can hallucinate, can be tricked, etc. Imagine a refrigerator that has its own beliefs about what temperature your food should be. It's a lot closer to the kind of robotic nightmare that Asimov dreamed up than anything robotics proper has given us so far.

These comments are about London being around 35% white british, but I feel like they fit in the mood of the thread:

What should we think about these "people"?

I just want “don’t ask don’t tell” back

Being a tranny counts as telling though
Don't ask don't tell didn't stay there though. It also had a don't pursue part which superiors ignored.

I think Trump's order meant a tranny could stay in military if they didn't use hormones, but it seems like a weak defense.

A group of prominent followers of Rajneesh (also known as Osho) led by Ma Anand Sheela had hoped to incapacitate the voting population of the city so that their own candidates would win the 1984 Wasco County elections. The incident was the first and largest bioterrorist attack in U.S. history.
Every last indian national on American soil should have been deported after this.

Ver archivo adjunto 9086567This was to be expected. There was enough senate pushback and he needs to kill this if he wants any hope of passing the SAVE act. Trump overplayed his hand with 1.8 billion. Thats insane, 10-20 million could have passed but 1.8 is nuts.
The idea was to use the legal precedent set by the $760 million fund from the "Keepseagle" case from the Obama administration:
The Fund will have the power to issue formal apologies and monetary relief owed to claimants. Submission of a claim is voluntary. There are no partisan requirements to file a claim. Any money left when the Fund ceases operations will revert to the Federal Government.

The Fund will receive $1.776 billion and will come from the judgment fund, which is a perpetual appropriation allowing DOJ to settle and pay cases. On a quarterly basis, the Fund shall send a report to the Attorney General outlining who has received relief and what form of relief was awarded.

At the Attorney General’s direction, the Fund can be audited. The Fund must take steps to protect private information and avoid fraud. The Fund shall cease processing claims no later than December 1, 2028.

There is legal precedent for such a Fund, most notably the “Keepseagle” case where the Obama Administration created a $760 million fund to redress various claims alleging racism against the federal government over a period of decades.

In Keepseagle, hundreds of millions of dollars remaining in the fund were distributed to non-profits and NGOs that never made claims, whereas any money remaining in The Anti-Weaponization Fund will revert to the federal government. The Obama DOJ settled by putting $680 million from the judgment fund into a bank account for a single claims administrator to dole out. In Keepseagle the remaining money—which ended up being over $300 million—was distributed to the entities that had not even submitted claims.

The Fund will consist of five members appointed by the Attorney General. One Member will be chosen in consultation with congressional leadership. The President can remove any member, but a replacement must be chosen the same way as the replaced member was selected.

I think the SAVE Act isn't going to pass unless something drastically changes. The RINO senators working with the Democrats are obstructing it far too much and GOP Senate leadership doesn't have the guts to break the filibuster.

SAVE Act isn't passing. They need to pass reconciliation for ICE and DHS for the rest of Trump's term.

Cornyn has been spite voting with the Democrats before they went on vacation so nothing is going to get done. Potentially for the next two years as well depending on how the midterms go.

Democracy is so gay "Oh no! the aliens are anal probing everyone to dead!! we need congress to vooooot 50+ so we can fight back!!! what!? we only got 49.9 votes? oh well, put your pants down everyone is over"
The game and the rules of it are not of my choosing but I must endure the consequences of them either way.

You're giving me flashbacks to my agentic systems course (or whatever it was called).
But what people call "agentic" today are just iterative loops of overpriced POST calls and appending the responses to a text buffer, and sometimes parsing out other commands to run as some perverse reverse RCE.
