Postmortem DDoS Attack of May 28th, 2026

Who knows? Maybe kiwiflare could become a small competitor to cloudflare someday. The only DDoS protection plan where the owner will write a mean letter in response to the ADL. The only caveat? You have to pay with a check.

The Internet would be healthier without a quarter+ of it running through Cloudflare.

In all seriousness: how much money does it cost to carry out an attack like these past few days? Or does it just require one seriously determined actor? I know fuck all about cybersecurity.

I read Jersh's sneedifesto on just how many ways there are to screw with a person's ability to own, run, and make a living from a website, and of those ways — from DDoS protection(-rackets) like Cloudflare to banking stuff to ISP throttling to... a bunch of shit I'm unqualified to sperg about, I noted that each constituted a tiny chokepoint, usually opaque, beyond any appeal, and controlled by a tiny, tiny, cabal of unaccountable private citizens.

Null is up against some serious motherfuckers. I genuinely hope that he takes precautions with his personal safety, because I can legitimately see those powers becoming frustrated with the repeated failures of attacks to shut us down, and actually bumping him off (possibly by just deliberately winding up a known-dangerous tranny for plausible-deniability purposes), because few others would fight like he does for this place.
