There's so much fucking Chinajank on Steam that it must be working out for devs somehow.
A lot of these games business model is just to spam some streamers chat saying "omg this game is so bad play it lol", get the streamer to play it, hopefully get some of his audience to buy the game to play along with said streamer, and boom you can probably make about a thousand bucks in one sitting. Penguinzer0 is a prime example of this.

The moment people can buy rotisserie chicken with EBT that $100 won't ever be an issue.
seeing the games epic shits out for free, I bet this is how most games are selected

Free Steam Playtest going until June 16: Hellforged
It's a Survivor game à la Soulstone or Megabonk, with gear farming and crafting. It takes clearing a few areas to unlock the extra game features that give it depth and replayability.
I mention it because the game is good, and it's free. Upcoming demo with more content, but the final product will be paid.
