Trump Enslavement Syndrome - Orange man good. /r/The_Donald and any public demonstration of rabid pro-Trump enthusiasm in spite of all reason.

I agree that billionaires hire H1Bs etc to drive down costs, but I feel like that's mostly an issue due to a mis-application of current US immigration policy (i.e. H1Bs meant to do the jobs Americans CAN'T do), more so than anything else. I wouldn't blame the player, I would blame the system in this case. If there's US engineers that CAN do these jobs (which is not a certainty), they should get those jobs, end of story. This is just how the existing immigration law works. If there's not, then yes a foreigner SHOULD have this job. Just apply the immigration law properly.
There is a big problem here. That's how its SUPPOSED to work. That isn't how it is being used. And I absolutely blame them, not the system. I guess I blame the system as well because it is broken. But that wouldn't be a problem if there weren't essentially robber barons running our country.

You can look at the employment rates, talk to people that are coming out of school having a hard time getting work, look at the "elite human capital" they are bringing to fill "jobs our engineers aren't capable of doing". If you look at the current situation and you still genuinely this is being driven by a labor shortage I would be flabbergasted at how you still believe it.

A great example that exposed exactly what I'm talking about was the whole jobs.com (or whatever it was called surely people will immediately know what I'm talking about). They were posting job listings that were purposefully not being shown to the people that would have to see them to apply to technically be allowed to hire foreign workers under h1b like programs. Then when the bullshit listing didn't get any response (you can look into this if you want an example of what I mean when I say they were literally job listings no one would ever see), then they would say " oh we totally tried to hire Americans but there was no interest, guess we need to get our subsidised slave labor ". The website I was talking about would find these bs listings and try to get in the way of it by posting the listings so Americans could actually apply.

Seriously though. There is so much that you can find to support what I'm saying.

I don't care if the people they are hiring want to come here for a better life. I don't want their life to suck, but this is a bullshit narrative they are selling, and people somehow just believe it despite all of the evidence of what they are actually doing, and why. It's harmful to the country long term, it's harmful to Americans right now as we speak, its bad for everyone outside of the people that are taking advantage of it. It uses the people you want to come here and follow the american dream. Meanwhile if they are the more competent people from India, (or wherever) wouldn't it be better in the end for their whole country if they stayed their and tried to improve their own country anyway?

Idk I could write a paper on this. It probably does deserve a proper write up or something. But I'm sure people better suited to do it than me have already taken the time, and effort to do it.

In the end, its still the billionaires/oligarchs vs the working class and we are getting raped. The sick part is they've convinced so many people to do their work for them and defend what they're doing.

Again, this is an issue of the government basically giving anyone an H1B. I don't fault individuals (rich or otherwise) for playing a game with the rules they've been given.

Agreed, and that basically means one thing to me, the H1B system hasn't been re-thought since the 60s (Edit: 90s* The H1B system exists since 1990. It was built based on prior immigration laws though and the Internet barely existed in the 90s, so point more or less stands) when people would find ads through newspapers, and needs to be modernized.

Two things, first I agree that it's bad for everyone (including billionaires, long term). Regular Americans lose, the de-facto slave labor loses, and the country at large loses. Of course.
However, that has been the history of the US also. People move in search for a better life, and both use the system and get used by the system (German immigrants being used as effective shock troops against Indian reservations in the midwest, everyone being used to build the railroad and expand it out west, slaves being used is rather obvious etc). The US aren't unique in that, that's how all countries work. The US just gave their citizens more freedoms, as long as you swore creed to the US and the ideals they hold.
Meanwhile if they are the more competent people from India, (or wherever) wouldn't it be better in the end for their whole country if they stayed their and tried to improve their own country anyway?
Which is why I fully disagree with this. The country was founded by people that did not want to stay in their country and improve it, but rather fled it in search of a better place to live. They didn't always speak the language (the Amish still don't and it's been hundreds of years at this point). Their reasons for not staying in their countries didn't matter, what mattered is they believed in the American ideals. I think a lot has changed (i.e. the risk in even coming to the US, where they come from obviously, the work they aspire to do being largely employees instead of self-sustaining) but the core is the same.
In the end, its still the billionaires/oligarchs vs the working class and we are getting raped. The sick part is they've convinced so many people to do their work for them and defend what they're doing.
I won't say I agree with the implication that the billionaires are the root of all evil (or the generalization in general, in modern day), but most importantly I think you're a well-read person who has core beliefs that drive this opinion, and our personalities and potentially worldviews are just different, hence this disagreement. I just blame the government first and foremost, rather than anyone using it for their benefit. This is literally the "agree-to-disagree" part, as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, the people who actually major in those useless majors are pretty slim and usually go on to grad school in them and end up teaching it and even then usually parts of the major are taught as gen ed for other majors. Most people who take those courses only do so for fun or as a minor.

I majored in STEM and took a native american studies course as part of my gen ed requirements. Why? I needed the credits and it was available at a time I had an opening. It was actually a fun class and the professor was super cool
I was addicted to stacking majors. I got a minor on accident taking classes for fun and was like if I stretch it a little, I can get the major. Then I find out I need a ton of math classes, which was practically a minor, and so… I pulled it off because every single class was pulling double or even triple duty covering requirements for other majors. (Calculus is apparently a foreign language.)

Being an idiot I thought this was free because it didn’t occur to me that if I wasn’t spending my scholarship money on this crap it would have covered more of my rent.

Funny enough, I was talking to a boomer IRL, and basically this exact same topic got brought up. They were talking about how bad the graduation rates were vs unemployment. He asked me "do you know what that means?" I just ask what. And his answer was "the degrees they are studying for useless degrees". And I proceeded to go on a short rant about basically the same shit I say in this thread.
well, in an unhelpful sense it’s true. But useless because credentialing is mostly a zero sum game where it just sets you apart, so if everybody gets the credential, you need a new credential.

And I’m sure you set him straight that the programmers - the kids who chose the most mature make money doing real work job out there - are the ones doing worst of all right now! And if I had it all to do over again programming would have been my other dream career…

And fuck, my specific profession got gutted by Trumps hiring freeze. Imagine a decade long commitment marching through difficult technical statistical training to basically train the technocrats that decide how much cancer in the air is too much or what will happen if we adjust this policy a mite, and then the rug gets pulled out from under you.
Id feel better about it if it wasn’t a free for all money buffet for Israel. I got lucky at the end/God was watching out for me.

Labor standards have changed to an unrealistic degree. It went from no experience but the ability to being trainable, to requiring a 4 year degree. Now you need a degree plus a few years of experience to even perform entry level tasks that you'd get on the job training for back in the 90s and early 2000s. Basically getting a degree after high school is a trap and fucks our young workers over. I feel for gen z as they suffer from the tail end of the go to college and make more money propaganda is failing. Now they're stuck in a hell where you need 2 to 4 years of experience and a bachelors to work entry level positions. It's evil bullshit and designed to make business say they need immigrants and visa workers to function. A lot of this is Republicans faults going all the way back to Reagan who allowed for companies to take their excess profits and rebuy stocks with them to make the green line go up instead of investing into their workers like they did before. H1b visa holders can also be paid way less the way than American born workers the law is currently written. It's basically a huge scheme to make billionaires and boomers richer. I even sympathize with the retards who voted for trump thinking he'd bring jobs back to rural communities. Basically we're fucked and people are starting to get violent, and I think we'll start seeing acts of violence and terror by both sides of the political spectrum as tensions and pressure rises.

I have a nuclear take on this, and it's that it is finally fucking time for people to stop being employees. It's just not lucrative anymore. Someone with access to Claude and a good idea can start their own modern business and run it with minimal overhead. Even people that aren't technical enough, can now cope with the modern tech stack through AI usage. The era of waging away for a company in exchange for a salary may finally be coming to an end.

Agreed about green line go up etc, and yeah if things don't change then they'll get uglier and uglier.

Miggers possibly reviving the confederacy is quite possibly one of the most evil things they've done. I am black and have black relatives living in the south and I know for a fact that black southerners lives just got more dangerous :(
Evil and retarded as well. WE LOST THAT FUCKIN WAR! GET OVER IT AND QUIT MAKING IT THE END ALL BE ALL OF SOUTHERN CULTURE!

Gone With the Wind was a FANTASY.

Oh I agree, I gatekeep my line of work since it's not crowded with idiots yet. But if you have an average iq, the ability to observe and learn you can make good money fulfilling services in your area that aren't met yet. I know a guy that does off site security for dealerships. He brings home about 200k a year and all he does is game all night until the cameras send a motion alert, and if it's a person he just threatens to call the cops if they don't leave.

NGL, the whole "Gadsden libertarian flag on confederate background" is probably the most hilarious thing I've seen all day.
The Confederates were more than happy to tread on others. And I don't just mean slavery; they were a-OK with things like the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 which was directly 'treading' on Northern rights. Not very Gadsden of them.

A migger’s most defining trait isn’t just not knowing or understanding American history, but being proud not to.

Hey guys the democrats are the real nazis and demons we need to go peacefully protest at the superbowl sponsored by fritolay and pray for charlie kirk by paying 15$ to get a selfie by turning point USA.

Most of these types genuinely don’t believe the US Civil War had anything to do with slavery or racism.

You’ve got to remember no modern racist will defend slavery and thinks the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade was one of the worst things in human history (agreeing with liberals for the wrong reasons season 3 episode 8).

Half these boomers have mullato grand kids they adore and think the black crime rate is the fault of the democrats. It’s why grifters like Candice Owen’s are so popular- these people fucking love watching blacks parrot their worldviews.

Surely they know that Trump actually had no love for conservativism, and only joined that party because they were the only ones who would accept him, and once he became the head of the party he replaced all of the actual conservatives with corrupt billionaires that were sympathetic to his actual agenda, right?
Made a few edits and tell me I’m wrong.
