Doesn't even feel like Trump was wanting to pretend they were really doing negotiations. Originally they were talking about doing them Tuesday, only for Vance to stay put in DC, then as time dragged on they pretended the negotiations were to start on Wednesday, only to not say they're off because whatever demands Trump had weren't being met before they got negotiations started again?

Something that has come up a few times now is that Trump is trying to lean into this idea of the "madman strategy", but all its done is make him look unreliable to negotiate with and people are just looking at what he actually does now. It was the reason he tried praising Allah on social media, as he kinda liked the idea of seeming unhinged.

I have to wonder what Vance's goal in all this was though, since he seemed into the idea of portraying himself as the more anti-war figure around, but didn't even want to head off to Pakistan to pretend they were really trying to negotiate a peace deal. He ends up looking completely inept or a liar.

Edit: Also I think this is the fifth time Trump has extended a self imposed deadline on his bombing of Iran's infrastructure if they don't make a deal.

I think Trump is still way more coherent than most people realize.
He is still in the sundowning phase of dementia. He is sundowning worse because he is stressed and not getting sleep. His brain is unfortunately not going fast enough for an emperor has no clothes moment.

He’s just like this when nothing is holding him back. He’s that stupid and that evil. He can only get ahead by cheating and lying. It buys him time to hand the bag to someone more desperate for wealth and less intelligent than him.

If Trump had just invested his fortune in index funds instead of playing businessman, he would’ve been as rich as he is now all along. No suffering as a poor downtrodden low-multi-millionaire struggling to claw back what he never really had for most of his life.

His ascent is as much a failure of the people and systems that let him in as it is a failure of his own character.

WASHINGTON/DUBAI/ISLAMABAD, April 21 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he would indefinitely extend the ceasefire with Iran, hours before it was set to expire, to allow the two countries to continue peace talks ‌to end a war that has killed thousands of people and shaken the global economy.
Backing down from threats of new violence earlier in the day, Trump said in a statement he had agreed to a request by Pakistan, which has mediated peace talks in the seven-week-old war, "to hold our Attack on the Country of Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal."
