Iran Crisis & the 2026 War between Iran and the United States, Gulf States, and Israel - Please focus on news and coverage, not argumentation.

With negotiations falling apart, has Trump given a new date to bomb Iran's bridges and power plants?
Shortest answer: No.

More detailed answer:
The two-week ceasefire was predicated on peacetalks; we do not how the exact language used. That might be Trump talking out of his ass, no one has provided detail on the terms.
We do not know if talks are completely dead or not, there is too much fog of war peace. The US pulled the lead negotiators out of talks, but eveyrone but Vance might still be Pakistan hoping they restart. I didn't see if the Iranians pulled anyone back.
but the Jews look like they are ready to start bombing shit.

So might be tomorrow, might be in Two More Weeks(TM) ....minus 2 or 3 days.

Australia has cucked out of the Trump Blockade of the Gulf of Trump:

Australia says it is not considering joining the U.S. naval blockade of the Hormuz Strait, "the best way to get lasting peace, and to ensure ultimately that petrol prices come down for Australians, is a negotiated settlement."
Jesus christ how fucking cucked out do you have to be? Did they elect Obama as PM without me noticing?

what kind of settlement do the prison island cucks have in mind? letting iran build nukes that can reach europe and paying them 6 gorillion dollars (real ones) in reparations while they continue to hemorrhage the global economy by tolling the strait that doesnt even belong to them? iran has made it very clear they wont "settle" for anything less
"we're too unimportant for IRan to deal with, and import enough muslims to ensure they can see they'll slowly take us over in a few years anyway, so we're safe as long as we cuck."

In fairness, the Iranians do use ACU. God knows why, but they do.

Look at that weak-ass sleeve roll. No wonder we are dominating their military.

Decent thread detailing how much a blockade fucks the Iranian economy.
TL;DR: It translates to nearly half a billion in damages per day.

Here is how Iran is still winning.

Trump is being petty as fuck right now. I can't tell if this is a negotiating tactic at this point.
I think that's Trump on a day that ends in Y.

Seeing reports he's bitching out norway over the Nobel prize lol
Trump C'mon seriously you have to know its not going to happen.

Jesus, this shit again? This really is one of his more obnoxious personality features. He gets his teeth into something and he will just not let it go. It was one of the reasons I thought he needed to just play kingmaker in 2024 and let someone else have go at the brass ring, because he constantly brings up old shit waaaaaay past its expiration date.
It's one of his boomerisms, similar to how he thinks people are only important if they're talked about on cable television.
He just can't let go of a time when shit like Nobel Prizes and mainstream media recognition were big deals.

For what it's worth, Trump's cryptocurrency project (world liberty financial) is currently under a huge amount of scrutiny for effectively blatantly scamming the fuck out of people right now.

It's only notable to mention in that it serves him best to create a giant distraction right now so less people talk about it.

The extent of the scam is that they've removed pictures of trump and his name from most of the website and it was used to basically sell pardons to various scammers.
I think getting into this war was profoundly retarded, you can find me sperging about it on this very thread, but the idea that he is risking our status as the reserve currency and global hegemony to distract from a crypto pump and dump scheme is a bridge way too far.
Edit: I am toying with the schizo theory that Trump was clean on the Epstein files but when he got into office Bibi hit him with the dirt on Melania. That would explain the Epstein file clusterfuck/u-turn as well as how Bibi pressured him into this retarded war and Melania's downright baffling press conference last week. Maybe she's trying to get in front of it because the Israelis were threatening to go public if Trump bailed on the war. Not something I believe but just shit I think about... Could be.

The option was on the table from the beginning:
The only thing the Gulf kicking out the Yankees would change is the USN closing the Straits instead of Iran.

In all seriousness, I don't see why the Iranians would be shocked or taken off guard from this at all, The USN doesn't play pirate by choice. When we do, it looks like Venezuela. Trying to throw up a blockade against the USN is pointless as it's just going to lead to a far larger and more comprehensive blockade against you.

Plus, it just came out that the dollar actually got stronger today.

I agree, but this really does smack of rules lawyering. Trump isn't just responding to an emergency situation anymore, or engaging in some short term gunboat diplomacy. This is starting to look like State on State warfare.
The law says the deployment of American military forces into any situation where hostilities are likely. Emergency situation, gunboat diplomacy, state on state, doesn't matter. There is no rules lawyering here. The administration followed the War Powers Act to the letter by submitting a report within 48 hours of deployment into the situation, and so did the Congress when it exercised the option contained in the law to hold a vote on requiring the president to withdraw them. Which, per the law, only requires a simple majority of both chambers to pass, and is not subject to presidential veto. The vote failed

It can be argued that the 60-day (+30 days to withdraw) deadline (from February 28 ) still applies, but there have been no hostilities involving American forces for 5 days now. The administration can argue the clock resets because the combat deployment ended Tuesday, and if combat involving American forces starts again, it submits a new report, it gets a fresh 60+30 days. Every president since 1973 has claimed the Act is unconstitutional but agreed to follow it anyway, maybe Trump would say fine let's take it to the Supreme Court

Well yes, but it had the fig leaf of being an "emergency". Now that there is a ceasefire and ground troops are rolling up, Trump needs to go to Congress. Its the principle of the matter.
Fig leaf implies Trump and the DOW have been trying to play this off as something it isn’t. That isn’t the case at all. They have been clearly presenting this as a war from the very beginning.

A legal fig leaf. I agree with what Trump is doing, but I am very concerned about the precedent being set here. Even Bush never went this far with the war powers act. We are setting new ground here that can essentially boil down to the US President being able to start wars at will.

Thanks, very interesting. But I do have a quibble with point #7, where he advocates for passage of "humanitarian cargoes." While the optics would be terrible, not allowing any food imports through the strait would bring matters to a boil really quickly.

You’re concerned about a US president exercising powers Congress has legally granted him?

The preponderance has always been on the side of the president can do just that. The United States using military force only being allowed if Congress passes a declaration of war is very much a creature of controversial wars. It only arises in the context of controversial wars. At the very beginning of the Republic, Jefferson set the precedent when he deliberately sent ships to the Barbary States, ostensibly on a diplomatic mission, really because he knew they'd be attacked and that would present Congress with a fait accompli. They were attacked, Jefferson said see we are already at war, and Congress voted him the money to build the larger navy needed to fight the war then money to fight the war itself, which that new navy then did fight without a declaration of war. Because there was widespread debate then about doing something re: the Barbary pirates requiring a declaration of war. No one opposed warring on Indians, so the issue never arose for them. Plus the tribes weren't recognized as sovereign nations with a recognized government. Only a very small number opposed gunboat diplomacy, which included the United States committing acts of war many times, on recognized sovereign nations with recognized governments, so the issue didn't arise for them either. It didn't arise for Serbia, it didn't arise for Grenada or Panama, it didn't arise for Haiti

He uh... always could. Even under the constraints of the War Powers Resolution Reagan could have ordered Moscow bombed citing an imminent conventional first strike by the USSR and we'd be stuck with the inevitable consequences of such an act, even if he was immediately impeached or even ate a gun barrel.

Hell, he could have even picked up the phone and told whoever was in charge of our forces in Europe that Operation Total Soviet Death is a go and to immediately enact the invasion plans for such, and he'd only be obligated to tell Congress he had given those orders within 48 hours after doing so. The WPR very, very carefully makes no serious attempt to constrain the President's ability to act without consulting Congress on military matters as the Constitution is explicit on his authority over the military as Commander-in-Chief.

Yeah, the GOP should have run some cuckolded Uniparty RINO instead so Kamala could win and turn the US into just another Marxist globalist shithole. Trump has legit flaws, but to think that there are any politicians without flaws is dumb and naive.

I don't think "the plan" the whitehouse has is going to go to script; and the downside is heavily favored on this encroachment into Iran. If it were really as simple as it was, Trump would have kept the assault going but despite Iran being vastly a minor military power, all it has to do is destroy/hinder a single strait, and even with the entire US Navy on the job, they can still do this. Yes, it would mean their total destruction (the Regime),, but in a death throw, they are likely to do the unthinkable with the strait anyways..

If they are going to die, they can take an immense bat the global economy and execute in the region "fuck it then" tactics. This is what I fear more than what Trump will actually do.

Honestly, I'd support an American strike on Lloyds of London soon enough.

The United States allowing Iran to basically extort vessels in the Strait or Hormuz, demanding payment for free passage in an international waterway is a dangerous precedent that cannot be tolerated.

Blockading Iran is perfect counterbalance, basically telling any ships paying extortion, which leaves ships with the international waterway that wouldn't actually cost them to use. Yet this leads to the next hurdle - Maritime shipping insurance, which seemingly is going along with Iran's extortion scheme.

Once this cease fire is done, I hope the United States truly cripples Iran.

On a positive note, the Gulf states are working on alternatives to having stuff on the wrong side of the Strait or Hormuz. Sucks for Kuwait/Iraq but what can you do?

Every single President since Truman has been allergic to actually taking a case to Congress to formally declare war. Shit, Dubya didn't even do it after 9/11, when it would have absolutely been a formality and NATO even invoked Article 5 over it. The War Powers Act just gives them legal cover to conduct war without getting the icky feeling of declaring it.

This has been a sorely needed redundancy for exports decades overdue. No one would REALLY give a shit about Iran and its nuclear ambitions otherwise. I mean, Israel might. But that's besides the point.

despite Iran being vastly a minor military power
Before the war, Iran had one of the 10-15 most powerful militaries in the world thanks to its heavy manufacturing of missiles and drones. Today, it still does, because 95% of the militaries in the world are incredibly weak

There's a significant drop from 1 (USA) to 2 (China), a huge drop from China to 3-5, another huge drop from 5 to 6-15, and the rest of them might as well not have militaries considering the disparity between them and the top 15. The United States on paper is using about 15% of its full naval and aerial power against Iran and barely any of its ground power (mostly in Army anti-missile/drone units), so the disparity between the two is not as large as might be expected
