I know this has been asked before many times but what started y'all's interest in Phil? For me it was the arc with the Kino boys when they pretended to be friends with him, I also remember being genuinely fooled by him at first as I thought he was just some harmless weirdo the Kino boys snaked to gain popularity, but now I know why this faggot has such a massive detractor audience.

When I randomly came across his Half-Life Black Mesa gameplay like 10 years ago, and thought: this guy is a retard.

My opinion hasn't changed.

Years ago, which would have coincided in the time between Pandalee's departure and the back of the head Khet Christmas tree reveal, I kept getting recommendations for a video about some guy who played video games.

Very faggy, I thought. Why is YouTube recommending this fucking trash about some guy named Disp?

So I ignored it. And yet it kept recommending that video. And then after a while it started to recommend another video about this guy.

FInally, I clicked on it. It wasn't a video by DSP, it was one of the detractors -- I don't know who. I marveled at the sheer greed and duplicity that this man displayed. And first out of curiosity I started watching every video I could find about him. Then it was purely due to enterainment.

So fuck you YouTube. This was all your fault.

I distinctly remember thinking he seemed alright until, ironically, the Heavy Rain playthrough, when even back then I thought to myself he was kind of an annoying asshole and started watching less, then not at all.

I rediscovered him years later, around 2016, discovered he had since become an Internet punchline, and have been watching detracktor cahntent ever since.

I don't think he ever wanted a girlfriend or wife for the companionship, at least not like the rest of us do. I think he wanted a status symbol (as we see with him literally always calling Kat "muh wife" unless he's calling her his mom) and then a mommy if they would bear it. He's not romantic, he hates putting in effort, he only thinks of himself so naturally any relationship is going to exist solely as a means for him to get something out of them. We often think of him having very transactional relationships but the truth is he never offers anything in return so it's not really a transaction. It's more like his streams where he's hoping to garner enough pity for someone to offer him something.

Yeah, we often psychoanalyze Phil like he's some sort of special case but he's just a run-of-the-mill covert narcissist. With narcissists people aren't people to them, they're tools. It's why he says "mo-wife" so often, Khet just filled the role that his mom used to do, he doesn't really see her as an actual separate person. It's why he always projects so much too, as a narcissist he has no theory of mind and he quite literally can't fathom that other people may have different reasons or motivations for doing something.

I used to listen to MATI and started getting bewildered at how that podcast’s host got everything wrong about Tomlinson, who was then my favorite cow. He ranted about the DSP forum (as he was wont to do pre-Kino interview) and I wondered if he was getting stuff wrong about this person and his detractors as well. (Answer: Yes.) Poked my head in, and have slowly learned the pigroach’s ways ever since. Am somewhat proud to say that I am the one who @ N*** and suggested he talk to DSP via KC, which he ended up doing a few months later. I don’t listen to MATI anymore and assume he’s always 40-80% wrong on all non-Ralph/LFJ stories to this very day.

Itsagundam introduced me to DSP and Perry Caravello, I'm glad he got bullied as a kid in NYC, I resent him for teaching me that autism is indeed contagious. 6 months after I made my first account here, I became a literal dent head and the irony is palpable.

MATI is terrible. Null is a BORING host and doesn't know lore for shit. So it's neither informative nor entertaining.

DSP is my favorite lolcow for that particular reason. I can take months off and due to the frequency of sperg outs I will always have something to catch up with. Or I can follow him on a regular basis and consistently get new content to laugh at.

I never gave him the time of day because fans of other cows would always say he was boring. It was only during the King Snake arc that I began watching a few KC segments about him and was immediately hooked. I've said it elsewhere, but there's something so satisfying about seeing a narc stripped of any intellectual ability to be an effective narc.

I watched the LTG vs. Viscant matches when they happened and wondered who this DSP fella was that Sir Dalaun was being compared to. Funny enough my first contact with DSP came from one of Larry Bundy's videos where he mentioned DSP a few times (that was when Machinima was still a thing). I think then I found a ItsaGundam video, then the short DTRH: DSP and from there I eventually landed here. Kinda funny when you think about it. I never actually saw a video back in the day when he was big, I also never saw a SoK video before their fall. It all came way back later because I was curious and with every watch I thought "How can this be real?"

I heard of him a really long time ago, but I didn't care for him until I found his Mortal Kombat/Street Fighter-fail compilations, which I thought were funny. Then I watched the Secret Limited doc on his bank leaks, which is where I actually started following him.

To be fair I definitely do that as well. I find it fun to speculate as to what motivates him, because yes he is just a narc but he's also just fuckin alien. I do think there are some things that set him apart, like the fact that he doesn't mask basically at all because he never had friends and never learned to but much of what he does isn't unique or special.

I quite honestly don't even remember. I had seen him before, maybe around the time LCL was launching, but he didn't grab me. Then sometime last year I got recommended some Snort Burnell vid and idk I just kinda got hooked. He's got so much lore and there's always some new thing he does where you ask yourself "what's the reasoning behind that?" plus he's just so hateable.
