Ever since I saw the phone recording of a C-130 in low flight refueling helicopters over Iran, I already knew something completely ridiculous was happening. Doing that in the middle of enemy territory (see Extortion 17 and Red Wings for the risks involved for the unfamiliar), let alone one in the midst of a country with an actual army is completely fucking ludicrous. Even with the severely compromised strategic air defense network, there should have been no shortage of man portable anti air missiles that make such low flight extremely dangerous especially for aircraft like helicopters, and cargo lifters. Even if there was constant air support and drone surveillance, the fact remains that in order for the mission to be accomplished, the extraction force has to land. Once they do that, you don't even need a fancy shoulder fired missile, you can fire mortars (again, for the uninitiated, a metal tube with a bomb shoved down it that you can distribute in the backpacks of like five guys while looking completely innocuous) from the other side of a hill and completely mess things up. Yet the intelligence level analysis and upper echelon decision making has apparently been so compromised that, rather than being the ones baiting a trap, the IRGC were baited into a trap themselves.

The thing that makes this completely and utterly gobsmacking though is that, if you recall any analysis of how a ground operation would go, including from that one chinese guy's lecture, the scenario that would play out as a catastrophe was basically this exact scenario, though on a larger scale. This should have been facile. Even if early warning radars have either been shut down or blown up, the human eyeball has not yet had a missile made to fight it that works off of seeking Euclidian eye radiation, any aircraft in the sky are going to be Burger or Jew, and a C-130 let alone multiple are what is commonly referred to as incredibly fucking loud, and they're going to the actual center of the country, and Iran is not a small country at all.

Yet what we see happen indicates a complete breakdown of military intelligence, the IRGC either so utterly doubtful of their own capabilities and awestruck by western ones that they go for false bait in a place that was actually impossible for the WSO or any ground extraction to have gotten to in the time span. You see a complete failure of the distributed command system to organize meaningful resistance to deep penetration into the country by what is supposedly multiple commando operations simultaneously, twice. You see what should have been a home run by a military with actual organization, training, and equipment become a complete goat fuck and all that's to be had for the trouble is smoldering trash and boxers. All this taking place only fifty kilometers from Isfahan, which is the Central District Capital. If anywhere, this should have been a place where the amount of resources to bring to bear would be insurmountable, and yet.

I still really don't know what to make of this. Underestimating an enemy is always a poor decision to make in the long term, and if there was a second go at this then it would be extremely dangerous to assume the same level of success given how risky it all was, but the more you look at this the more you just wonder what if any organization is actually occurring, or if any significant resistance is just seen as not worth attempting for risk of losing it and not being able to maintain control.

There's an excellent discussion of this in the book "Modern Times" by Paul Johnson. He devotes an entire chapter to the "non-aligned" movement of Third-Worldism that emerged in conjunction with the Bandung Conference in 1955, focusing on Gamel Abdel-Nasser, Jawarhalal Nehru, and Sukarno as the primary figureheads of the philosophy. This happened in conjunction with that Swedish faggot Dag Hammarskjöld serving as primary vector of white self-loathing and constant excuses for brownoid social dysfunction during his time as UN Secretary General. Pretty much every shitlib in the west was influenced by this, and led to the rise of the New Left in the mid-60s when vermin academics like the Frankfurt School commies started pushing it hard in their curriculums.

Maybe we need to have show-and-tells like we did back in the Soviet days, but for military hardware. We used to bring Soviet diplomats to Disneyland and walk them through grocery stores and the moment they realized that it was real and accessible to most Americans, not propaganda was both radicalizing and demoralizing.

Taking a thirdie on a vehicle tour through the boneyard should do the same thing. The scope of the US military is nearly unfathomable. From a technological standpoint, we could maintain this level of losses, well, forever. There is nothing Iran can do militarily to make America stop.

Now, it won't, but that's because any number higher than about 12 airframes gets called "many". Even if they were shown, they cannot understand what would happen, even conventionally, if the gloves really came off.

The enemy was large and violent. The rescuers were brilliant, strong, decisive, and as cool as anyone can be.

The Iranians thought they had him, but it wasn't even close, and remember, we got two, but couldn't talk about the first in that it would have highlighted that there was a second.

Such a rescue has never happened before in so violent an enemy territory. It is usually not done because it is considered not doable. Such a great military — like no other.

The US has a completely unparalleled intelligence capability. There is effectively an imperfect "force field" around US troops in a situation like this, where anything attempting to harm them is being managed and dealt with by many people remotely. I have said previously that "the US knows more about Iranian military movements than Iran does", and this is partially serious. The US has hundreds of known military satellites, not to mention other capabilities.
