i'm an hour late, but Scott Horton talked with Joe Kent today. unfortunately, preservetube doesn't want to work. i'll update with interesting points as i watch.
-Joe clarifies that when he says Trump is being influenced by the Israeli lobby he means that; there is an ecosystem surrounding Trump, consisting of the Israeli lobby, Israeli officials, donors, think tanks, editorials, and the usual talking heads, who framed the issue to Trump as Iran having ANY enrichment = them having a nuclear weapon. he accuses the Israelis of using back-channels and media to shift the redline to justify attacking Khomeini even though he was against nuclear weapons. Israel was afraid of Trump and Khomeini coming to a deal on no nuclear weapons and developing relations.
-it was known where Iran would strike and what their plans would be beforehand, them attacking US bases and oil infrastructure is not a surprise.
-Kent pushes back on the idea that Trump was enthusiastic about Israel starting the war, he's adamant they goaded him with false information.
-Kent talks about his work with EFPs in the Iraq war, specifically pushing back on the idea that the bombs that killed 600 Americans in the Iraq war weren't Iranian. he claims that the Quds force essentially trained themselves out of a job, giving the Iraqi locals everything they needed to manufacture locally. however, he does agree the talking point was used disingenuosuly by the Israeli lobby to conflate Sadr with Khomeini to justify attacking Iran, even though Bush didn't end up following through with it.
-Kent expresses skepticism of the larger numbers of protestors killed in Iran.
-Kent believes there was a real chance for peace with Witkoff's deal before the 12-day war. he also believes that even after, because of how calculated their response was, Iran was still interested. he claims this terrified Israel, and hurried their plan to mislead Trump and attack Iran.
