I heard Lower Decks is pretty bad especially when it started out.
I have managed to watch maybe 10 minutes, total, of Lower Decks.
But from what I've seen/the summaries of people with stonger stomachs than mine:

The characters are fairly garbage and woke, but the writers actually play into that fairly often; the Jocks and Normies succeeding while they fail. It is crammed full of woke talking points and subplots, but when you ignore those diversions:
The writers LIKE star trek, unike Picard. Characters from the TNG/VOY/DS9 are mentioned appropriately and usually offhandedly not for memberberries; getting ready for Admiral Riker to visit is a subplot in an episode but Riker doesn't actually appear. Characters and tie-ins are done appropriately and not subverted/woked/black. Janeway doesn't pooner out, Picard isn't shown to be ACKSHULLY a petty tyrant because some episode from 1992 doesn't perfectly conform to Tranny rights.
Their show sucks, but they don't try to set the whole franchise on fire when writing it.

Riker absolutely does appear (still a Captain), with Troi by his side, and many, MANY of the original actors guest-voiced their characters. Practically all the ones who are still alive in real life, with a couple of notable exceptions. The show had its issues as all shows do, including 21st century wokism, but it's mostly ignorable in favor of how obvious the showrunners' love for classic Trek is.

Wheaton of course had to guest star in a flashback scene from the Academy, the insufferable little faggot he is, gag.

There are cameos but IIRC in the episode driven by preparations for some meeting with Admiral Riker he never actually shows up. It is used as just a "visit by an important person" plot device, but is used correctly and contextually.

They are still shitty writers, but as you point out, their goal isn't to "subvert expectations" or use Trek as their political soapbox. They like Star Trek and aren't out to undermine it or cuck existing characters.

Wil gives his thoughts on a famous person's death.

A woman old enough to have experienced actual male oppression (france was a fucking shithole that didn't legally classify women as humans until 1946 and in practice still thinks they're just cum jars) decided not to rock the boat and also to pull the ladder up behind her, wow, what a piece of shit and not at all an example of how shit experiences can make a person suspicious and lonely and IN PAIN.
edit because i'm so mati - fucking look at her and really think about what a woman like that would have had to deal with in the entertainment industry. I guarantee she was embittered and exhausted in her later life after decades of learning over and over again there was no one she could truly trust.
Wil shows us once again that being a biological male does not guarantee someone is a Man.
For me, it will be "Guess he finally shut up."
Sounds like you've just secured yourself a haunting! Enjoy ghost Wil, stalker chud.

what's funny is it's actually decent but you can just skip the whole first season and like the first half of the second
i wonder if they did that on purpose

The first few episodes are easily the show's lowest point. Hell, the first scene is a poor man's version of Rick and Morty's first scene. It gets better, but man, the hatred it got when it first came out was bad.

To be fair to them, I'm not convinced French men are human either.
I actually know a couple of French women who moved to the UK just because how shitty French and "French" men are. Weird to think that us Bong guys are to French women what Oriental women are to Go East Passport Bros.

We're submissive and breedable.

I actually watched every minute of it from the very first episode as it came out because I saw its potential all along. This is because I am a genius and the rest of you are not.

I think I have found the platonic ideal of damning with faint praise. Congrats?

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand lower decks....

Bit of a necrobump, Felicia’s back to make a new movie based off of the Guild

As if getting the whole cast of that piece of shit show back together would be hard.

Starbucks has very generous vacation for baristas.

And to think this isn't even the most irrelevant movie ever made.

I remember watching this stupid dumb retarded show like on Netflix and hulu or something in 2015 and thinking "wow this is really boring and not funny people like this?" Now it's getting a movie? How many people even know about this show? Or like... even wants this?

I would imagine as long as they keep production costs down (and why wouldnt' they) it could make some money. I'd watch it just because I remember it.

I remember this but only because my parents watched it. It is about as lame as big bang theory using "we have WOW at home" as the framing device while painting all gamers as socially maladjusted second life players.

They had a literal wedding episode and shit, the show is pretty much unbearable.
