Much of the "Israel is our greatest Ally" posting is ironic. But there is something refreshing about watching the USA fight a war with an Ally who is actually able to carry its own weight rather then a bunch of "Glad to be here" moral support. More importantly though, the Israelis were correct about the need to prevent Iran from expanding its ballistic missile program and getting nuclear devices to mount on them. Iran was already blackmailing the region with convenional arms. If they had gotten nukes shit would have gotten worse.

The US can tolerate the North Koreans having nuclear weapons because the Chinks and now Russians have them on a tight leash. The Paki's have been allowed to have nuclear weapons because they only have them to compete with India who has never once been consistent in who they side with so a localized nuclear war between the two is something the US would be indifferent to at least in comparison to the literal terrorist state that is Iran wanting to use nuclear weapons on pretty much everyone but Oman.
