Something I'm wondering is, did they know this would it take months to complete from the start?

Or, are they giving themselves wiggle room on timelines in order to make sure public expectations aren't too thoroughly violated?

If its the latter than that would suggest some things have gone awry, and their expectations might've been too optimistic.

Steve Witkoff just said on Fox News that at the first meeting with the Iranians they told them very clearly, “we have enough material for 11 nuclear bombs, and that is our starting point.” He also said that Iran could have raised the level of enriched uranium to 90% within 10 days.

Also GCC countries are wasting valuable interceptors on shooting down drones, something that fighter jets can do very easily. Instead of using their fighter jets for the purpose they were made for the GCC countries prefer to shoot interceptors and it's not clear why.

They're probably rigidly adhering to some doctrine that predates drones by 20 years. It's also easier to launch an interceptor than to have a working air force.

It might be a good motivator to get the gulf countries to help clean up Iran's mess, though. Maybe if they have no interceptors they'll go blow up some TELs themselves.

Ideally they should’ve been upfront a clear ETA can’t be given due to the nature of underground assets. I doubt anything has gone awry apart from the friendly fire, they’ve been moving assets for months, everyone in the room was expecting non stop launches at every US base.

Trump said it would take 4 weeks at the start. Nothing has been said counter to that so far.
