I saw a Youtube video a long time ago that explained why Middle Eastern militaries are shit. Regional dictators often times rise to power through military coups and are afraid the same will happen to them. That's why they intentionally keep their militaries disorganized so that generals can't unite with each other and overthrow the current leader.

The strategy worked in 2016 when a faction of Turkaroaches attempted to overthrow King Roach Erogan and failed because said faction was ultimately isolated. But the downside becomes apparent when their nation has to go to war with a foreign power. The Iran-Iraq war is a good example because both sides fought for eight years without any significant changes happening to their borders.

Look at the assassination attempt Claus Stauffenberg made on Hitler. He prepared two bombs but was only able to arm one and the second one was left with one of his aides. The end result was Hitler suffering only a few splinter wounds and bragging rights he was able to share with Mussolini.

A brick wall in the Ayatollah Assaholla's bunker would give an explosion's energy chances to escape outwards. It'd still trap enough energy from a bombing to kill the bunker's occupants, but there would still be a chance that furniture wouldn't be turned into splinters.
