They don't really have to know. They just give their support to people who understand leadership positions. Even in an authoritarian government, there are plenty of moderate civil servants and lower-level politicians that can take over from a collapsed regime if they have the backing of the civilian population.

A big difference is that Israel values America while Iran's (former)government would want every American dead. Even if all the conspiracies about Israelis were true, they'd still be far better allies than the alternative.

True, but they have to pay more for that oil. The whole point of them buying oil from Iran and Russia was that it was cheaper.

Actual war implies mutual threat. A countries like Iran, Iraq, Venezuela, Vietnam, North Korea, etc aren't/weren't an existential threat to America. Declaring war the official way pretty much turns the President into a dictator and that's only a good thing if the nation is in actual danger. Its in America's best interest if we can attack foreign nations without having to delcare war otherwise countries like Russia and the Europeans would end up taking over the world by being more aggressive.

You know, just the other day, I was looking at my electricity bill, and lamenting how it seems to have roughly doubled what it was just a few years ago. Then I reflected on the fact that, contrary to less than a decade ago, I can't bring myself to buy beef, as it's so overpriced even when on sale it just seems like a waste of money.

But then I heard about this. I was like, "finally! These poor oppressed people will get out from under the thumb of rule by religious zealots who worship a pedophile, and instead install zealots who will have everyone under the thumb of fags, hags, and troons. And pedophiles."

And sure, this won't affect my life in basically any way, and in fact will probably just continue to make everything more expensive. But at least there's one less corner of the world not dominated by fags, hags, and troons. And pedophiles.
