💼 Careercow Will Stancil / whstancil / stancilculture - "Vibecession" proponent and Biden booster neolib, the "chihuahua of twitter", Important Master's Degree (in Black People), chooses endurance mode "lolcowing through it" as an argument strategy, "Proud member of Do-Something Twitter", raped by Grok

I'm retarded - can someone explain how this damage is enough to total the car? I assume a major factor is that the car is (relatively) old and this worth diddly squat.
It’s also the worst possible hit. The car was likely T-Boned from the side with the actual unibody frame getting hit the hardest. You just can’t fix that without basically disassembling the entire car screw by screw . Stancil even posted another angle where you can clearly see that the car was parked right in front of an intersection

If it were in good shape and worth 3-4 grand and not less

Repairing(possibly replacing) both drivers side doors rear 250-500 front 400-500 , the rear quarterpanel on a unibody vehicle(this needs cut out and welded back in), hatch glass $150, bumper cover $200, tail light $70, and anything else easily outstrips the value of that shitbucket. The paint alone would easily be another 500-1500, and this is assuming there's no other damage that isn't visible, and those prices aren't including labor. Just on the low side that's already $1500(without labor) including a shitty MAACO single coat paintjob just to kinda make it match, and doesn't include fixing the rear quarter panel and D pillar that you'd have to buy another car as scrap to use as a donor.

That thing is fucked.

edit: I also doubt the car was worth $3k to begin with. He parks it outside, would need to put less than 10,000 miles per year on it, the paint would have to not be fucked by being outside(it's also black, so good luck hiding any blemishes, also lets be real no one was hand washing a honda fit for 15 years), and road salt probably means if you actually looked underneath the car, there's a bunch of rust damage to whatever subframe and suspension components are there. It was probably closer to 2500. There's some dealerships up in that state asking 6-12k for a 2010-2012 honda fit but they're fucking delusional.

Tbh it looks more like someone took a bat to the car, rather than a vehicle collision
Maybe somebody didn't want Will continuing his ICE-chasing activities without Signal chat group supervision. He did continue to drive journalists around and do interviews after he was kicked out of the Signal chat, which is the specific, stated reason why they kicked him out in the first place. Little did Will Stancil know, he was supposed to give up entirely and go home in defeat, not forge ahead on his own.

I think it varies state by state but it's legal here. You can park within 12" of a curb in residential zones. You do have to be facing the direction of traffic, so you can't just pull across and park on the other side of the road if that's your destination, you have to turn around

I think he meant the proximity to an intersection. In most of Europe you have to keep some distance to any intersection and parking too close is illegal. (although i have yet to see someone towed who was not actively obstructing the entire road.)

Looks like a T intersection so it would be okay for him to park there.

Wouldn't be ironic if it were some illegal shitskin that totaled Stancil's fit?
Someone recently told me a car is technically totaled when the repair cost is more than the actual value. Not sure if this is true.
Some people have already answered but to expand on this, in addition to cost, if the frame is bent or if the airbags go off, insurance will always total it.

Once the frame is bent, there is no way to repair it to restore the original durability. Airbags are expensive and generally if a crash is significant enough to trigger airbags it's enough to bend the frame.

We really can't tell in this photo because of all the snow on the ground. If there are lines there and it's marked, then it's legal. A lot of city planners would probably not put parking there, but if it's a minor enough street, it might be setup that way. In most states you can't park within 10~15 ft of a stop sign, but that'd be coming into the T in this intersection. I don't see where the "no parking to curb" signs are located in the other photos, so can't be sure.

But I doubt Stancil would illegally park. Hell, he probably wouldn't even put random lawn furniture in a spot he shoveled out to call dibs (if he lived in Chicago .. that's a Chicago thing).

Triumph of the Will is too kind to even set up a Gofundme, even though every single member of the Stancilwaffen would donate.
I agree with him that he should let someone less fortuate than him get some donos. He should consider bossmanjack, a victim of capitalism if there ever was one and a prospective Honda Civic owner

Hopefully Will can set up the GFM for an emergency gamba fun because Evil Eddie and Noah have been taking it all lately :(
