Cartel politics is a mess right now with the Sinaloa Cartel civil war (In which CJNG are also involved). If it's true about El Mencho then it could easily turn into a big deal. That is a major power vacuum and CJNG are a huge, highly militarized organization with a number of internal factions/leaders who would probably want to make plays. There are reports of narco blockades (Cartels taking over roads, blocking them with burning vehicles) popping up which is predictable behaviour after high profile killings/captures
