He died shot full of holes and bleeding out on the sidewalk as his comrades ran away shrieking. No family around him, no friends. Just his warm blood pooling on the ground and the icy cold air stabbing every wound with pain. ICE went on to deport more people that day. How does that make you feel bish?
This is the subtlety most activists overlook.
Argue technicalities all you like, but the guy's dead, and it's of his own volition. He chose to arm himself and join a protest group, aggressively accost armed federal agents, and wrestled with them instead of complying with orders to stand down. He was shot and killed in response.
There are no circumstances in which this is an unreasonable conclusion to that sequence of events. Normies understand this. The exact details literally don't matter. No reasonable person will hear this sequence described and think it was an unreasonable shooting. He showed up to a protest armed and got in a fight with armed law enforcement officers. His death was inevitable.
Police have an old saying -- "you can beat the rap, but you can't beat the ride." The dullards among us will assume this means the police are just admitting "we will fuck with you with impunity, inconvenience you as much as possible, and even if you get out from under all of it, we will still fuck with you and you can't do jack shit about it." They're not wrong, but the smarter message is simply "choose your battles."
You don't litigate your speeding ticket at road side. If you've been pulled over and the cop has decided (likely before even approaching your car) that you're holding drugs, they'll just conjure "probable cause" out of thin air, search your car, and haul you in even if they find nothing and you end up acquitted or released. The only difference in how the evening will proceed is whether you mouth off or just exercise your 4th, 5th and 6th Amendment rights (refusing consent to search, refusing to answer incriminating questions, and demanding a lawyer) and otherwise shut the fuck up. One results in extra charges, bruises, broken bones and possibly some taser action. The other does not. Either way, you're still spending the night in jail. The only question is how comfortably you'll sleep that night.
Reasonable people understand this. Peaceful protest is meant to be "peaceful." If you go to a protest armed, you intend to cause harm. Simple as that. Part of the reason "peaceful protest" works is you're non-violent and daring your opponent to be violent against unarmed, non-violent people. If you show up packing heat, well no fucking shit you're going to get shot. You
know the situation is volatile. You know everyone's on edge and just waiting for an excuse. And you choose to arm yourself with a weapon guaranteed to provoke a lethal response? You're going to get shot.
Doubly stupid is failing to arm himself properly to deal with multiple simultaneous combatants. What did he expect his meme hand cannon to accomplish against a dozen armed federal agents? Even if he'd managed to kill two or three of them (a competent shooter could probably do so before being neutralized), there's still lots more hornets ready to swarm. What was he thinking?
He picked a shitty battle he couldn't win, but he loaded up and acted like he was the destined victor anyway. And now he's dead. Obviously he expected his enemy to blink -- to see the gun, and sheepishly back off rather than do what they're (repeatedly) trained to do (and this is key -- these blowhards still think the feds are bluffing). They didn't blink. They shot him instead.
This isn't an "optics win" for the left. An idiot got himself shot by doing the dumbest possible thing you can do in an aggravated, heated environment with lots of well-armed and stressed-out law enforcement agents
who happen to be doing the right thing anyway. No one will remember this idiot's name in three months. They'll just remember "oh yeah, the feds deported a bunch of fraudsters from Minneapolis and some dipshits got themselves shot trying to stop them."
