It's not even confirmed the SIG ND'd yet, I don't think. But "they" disarming him is probably best stated as he was disarmed. I doubt they all knew at once and it didn't seem like the guy who disarmed him alerted them (not that I can tell). The whistles likely make it impossible for them to do their jobs.
